Penelitian tindakan kelas dilaksanakan di SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Lampung Tengah dari dua siklus. Hasil penelitian ini adalah bahwa teknik membaca cepat dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa kelas X SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Lampung Tengah. Tujuan utama penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah teknik membaca cepat dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa kelas X SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Lampung Tengah.

Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan di SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Lampung Tengah selama dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 25 siswa kelas X SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Lampung Tengah tahun pelajaran 2019/2020. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah teknik membaca cepat dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa kelas X SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Lampung Tengah.

Speed ​​reading is also a way for students to read with better comprehension and remember it faster. This technique had the advantage of creating an atmosphere of students who are more active in learning English in the classroom. Based on the previous background, the writer was interested in conducting a study entitled: Improving students' reading comprehension skills using speed reading technique in the tenth grade of SMA Ma'arif 1 SeputihBanyak Central Lampung.

Based on the problems identified above, the writer would like to limit the problem to only "Students read a long text slowly because they tend to read in single words". Concerned with the research background and problem identification above, the writer formulates the problem as follows: "Can speed reading technique improve students' reading comprehension among ten grades in SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung?". In accordance with the above problem, the objective of the research is to know whether the use of speed reading technique can improve students' reading whether the use of speed reading technique can improve students' reading comprehension ability.

In a simple definition, reading can be said as a process of understanding the written text by identifying words to become simple information or ideas, so as to make it easier for the reader to understand the meaning of the texts. This is also known as previewing when the reader flips quickly through a newspaper to see the main points of the day. It reads quite quickly with the immediate rejection of all irrelevant data, perhaps most of the text.

Silent reading tends to reinforce readers to find the meaning of the words. This speed reading skill should go hand in hand with the main purpose of reading which is comprehension. The rate of speed reading a story or story will be different from reading scientific material7.

The students were definitely able to read each of the words in that sentence and understand what they meant independently. Feldman defines "Speed ​​reading is a collection of reading techniques that will allow them to at least double their reading speed on average compared to their reading speed before, and this technique should also maintain or even improve their reading comprehension"12. Speed ​​reading is a technique for improving a reader's reading ability, improving both the speed with which text can be assimilated and the level of understanding of the material13.

Speed ​​reading is one of the techniques that can be used to improve the reading habits of students to read quickly. Draw invisible shapes on a page of text to expand the visual space for speed reading. The disadvantage is that there is a sense of confusion or loss of understanding of what has been read, because students do not have or have not mastered reading skills using speed reading techniques, lack vocabulary and still read vocally.

Based on the framework of theories and assumption, the research formulates the hypothesis as follows: can use the speed reading technique to improve Students' reading comprehension at Tenth Graders of SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung.

The researcher observed the learning activity of the students in the classroom such as classroom situation, students' response using the observation sheet. In this step, the researcher observes the learning activity of the students in the classroom, such as classroom situation, learning process, activity. The result of this test is the students' reading based on the topic given by the teacher.

The purpose of this test is to measure the students' reading comprehension ability based on the subject. The students' amount of SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak in the academic year 2019/2020 based on their class. The student volume of SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak in the academic year 2019/2020 based on facility.

Based on the data from the students' observation sheets, evaluation and reflection in the first cycle, the researcher concluded that the first cycle was unsuccessful. Based on the data in the chart above, most student activities improved significantly in the first and second cycles.

Based on the research data above, the researcher concluded that the students' activities achieved a significant improvement in cycle I and cycle II. This was shown by examining from the data result of the students' score in pre-test in cycle I. Based on the graph above, the researcher came to the conclusion that there is an improvement in students' reading comprehension skills in cycle I and cycle II was by speed reading technique.

RESULT OF THE RESEARCH

In the planning, the researcher and the collaborator gave the students the material about the narrated text in English and the speed reading technique. The first meeting was used for the pretest examination of the students, the second meeting was used to apply the speed reading technique to the students, and the third meeting was used for the post-test 1. The teacher opened the class by opening, greeting, checking the the attendance list of the students and the question of the state of the students in the classroom.

The students' pre-test was administered for 45 minutes to measure how far the student's reading comprehension of the English narration of the Reading text was. The teacher explained to the students the material of the technique of rapid reading and narrating the text. As the last meeting in cycle I, the researcher used this meeting to give the students the post-test 1. In this meeting, the researcher used the post-test 1 after the students are given the action (doing the speed reading technique) in the second meeting.

This meeting started with a greeting, checking the attendance list and asking about the state of the students in the classroom. Based on the purpose of the action research in the classroom, the researcher gave posttest 1 to the students. The average score of post-test 1 is 67.6 because the students' score is below the minimum standard criteria, so that the researcher needs the next action in Cycle II.

Based on the observation data of students' activities in the first cycle, some students were active in the learning process of teaching. In this segment, the researcher offered the students a speed reading technique and made the text material in English more enjoyable. In this last meeting of the 2nd cycle, most of the students were able to answer the test well because the speed reading technique has a positive effect on the student's reading comprehension ability, especially the English repetition of the text.

Therefore, the researcher concluded that most of the students could improve their English reading comprehension of the repeated text and this research achieved the indicator of success. Based on the observation of data on the activities of students in II. cycle, most students proved to be active in the process of learning English, especially in understanding the English narrative text. From the observation sheet in cycle II, all the students were active during the monitoring of learning English in the classroom and the students could understand well based on the narration of the topic of the text.

Interpretation

Discussion

After that, the researcher conducted a pre-test to measure the student's ability to read and understand the text before the researcher used the speed reading technique. Based on the above data research, the researcher concluded that the learning process in English narrative text comprehension using speed reading technique could improve the reading comprehension of the tenth grade students of SMAMa’arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung in the academic year 2019/2020. The result of the student's English text comprehension score in the pre-test, after test 1 and after test 2.

Based on the above data, the researcher concluded that the students' reading comprehension of retell text was induced an improvement. The teacher should select and use some teaching techniques and media that suit the needs of the students based on the curriculum. Related to the statement above, this technique proved that speed reading technique is one of the interesting techniques to learn English, especially for students' reading comprehension among tenth grade at SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung in the academic year 2019/2020.

The observation data of the students in cycle I and II the data of the observation sheets of the tenth grade students SMA Ma'arif 1 Seputih Banyak was good, it was based on observation data of 54% became 79%.
