THE INFLUENCE OF THE USE OF DICTOGLOSS TECHNIQUE ON THE STUDENTS' NARRATIVE WRITING ABILITY UNDER THE EIGHTH GRADE OF SMPMA'ARIF 9 WAY JEPARA. In Indonesia, English is the first foreign language and it becomes one of the main subjects to be taught by all the students. This method is an easy method to obtain participation and response from the students.

In this study, the researcher used this technique because it was suitable to increase the writing skills of the students. Using the above analysis, it can be concluded that "Ha" as the writer claims "there is a positive and significant influence of Dictogloss Teachnique on the ability to write narrative texts in the eighth grader of SMP Ma'arif 9 Way Jepara in academic year 2019/2020.This undergraduate thesis titled “The Influence of Using Dictogloss Technique on Student Writing Skills in Writing Narrative Texts under Eighth Grade of SMP MA’ARIF 9 Way Jepara.

Background of the Study

Based on the above problems, the writer will use some technique that can help students to increase their interest in writing. To provide a proof of the above issues, the writer has done a preliminary survey on eighth grade students of SMP MA'ARIF 9 Way Jepara. The result of writing the daily exam in the 1st semester is shown in the table below.

From the results of the above preliminary research, there is evidence that more than half of the students still have a low score in writing a narrative text. To solve the problem, one of the alternative techniques to help students increase their ability to write narrative text is to use Dictogloss. Therefore, the writer chooses this technique with the expectation that Dictogloss can help students to write.

Problem Identification

It is an instructional tool designed to support language learners to help them improve their understanding of the language used in a text passage. Each student then combines his words with other students' words to reconstruct the text.

Based on the statement above, it can be concluded that there are three processes of writing. In order to get a good result from writing, the writer must consider them in writing a paragraph or an essay.7. Based on the statement above, it can be concluded that there are several things that writer should consider in order to make good writing.

The Concepts of Narrative Text a. Definition of Narrative text

Kinds of Dictogloss

In Dictogloss Negotiation, instead of group members discussing what they heard when the teacher has finished reading, students discuss after each section of the text that has been read. Sections can be one sentence long or longer, depending on the difficulty of the text relative to the students' skill level. In other words, they can ask the teacher to stop, go back, i.e., go back, and skip forward, i.e., fast-forward.

Instead of the teacher being the one who reads the text aloud, the students take turns reading to each other. In Dictogloss Opinion, after reconstructing the text, the students give their opinion on the ideas of the writers. So, it is positive and significant to use the dictogloss technique in students' narrative text writing ability. So, there is no positive and significant effect from the use of the dictogloss technique on students' writing ability in the narrative text.

The sampling technique used in this research is Cluster purposive sampling; "Sample selection by purpose." The samples of this research are eighth grade students consisting of one class consisting of 28 students.

In this research, the author uses observation to know about the condition of the student, especially in the score of writing subjects and also what the technique that the teacher uses when they teach narrative text. Then the researcher writes all those that the author sees in the school in the observation list, as a result of data before the study. The researcher uses a written test to know about the student's speaking ability, including in the high category (80-100).

Evelyn Hatch says, "The dependent variable, on the other hand, is the variable that you observe and measure to determine the effect of the independent variable."24 The dependent variable (Y) of this research is a part of writing ability in learning English. language system. A pre-test was given to the students at the first meeting to determine their abilities at the beginning before using the Dictogloss technique in writing. While the post-test will be given in the last session after the treatment to find out whether the statement that makes any contribution to the ability of the students in the then experimental class is higher than the control class or there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class scores.

Then the author selected these data to select an appropriate database for the focus and purpose of the study. The research on ability in narrative text, so the research tool used in current research is in the form of writing test or composition of narrative text writing. The reliability of the instrument writing test in this research was done by the advisor.

Sugiyono stated that to examine the reliability of the instrument is an independent auditor or the research consultant.28 F. To examine the influence of Dictogloss Teaching on the students' ability to write narrative texts in the eighth grade of SMP MA'ARIF 9 Way Jeparathe writer uses Chi square. Chi-square Many parametric models have been proposed in the literature with different characteristics, shapes and properties29.

Since then, many modifications, extensions and generalizations of this methodology have been discussed in the statistical literature.

Frequency distribution as a result of post-test in eighth graders of SMP MA’ARIF 9 Way Jepara. After obtaining data, in order to find out whether there is a positive and significant influence of the use of dictogglos technique on the ability of students to write a narrative text in the eighth graders of SMP MA'ARIF 9 Way Jepara in the academic year of the writer, a two-variable chi-square was used. analyze the data.

This means that "there is a positive and significant impact of the use of the dictogloss technique on the students' ability to write a narrative text in the eighth graders of SMP MA'ARIF 9 Way Jepara in the academic year 2019/2020. During the research, the writer noticed that students were interested in learning English material using dictogloss.

They could understand English fabric more easily by using dictogloss as a technique. The writer assumed that teaching and learning by using dictogloss as a technique can well influence students' English learning outcome. In short, the use of dictogloss as a technique has a significant influence on the English learning outcome of the students after treatments.

Although the result of this research proved that the use of dictogloss as a technique is an effective technique for teaching English and has a significant impact especially on the eighth grade students of SMP MA'ARIF 9 Way Jepara, the results of the research cannot be generalized. for other schools.

Memberikan motivasi kepada siswa yang kurang dan belum mampu mengikuti materi teks naratif berbentuk fabel.
