The Use of Mondly Application Language to Improve Students' Vocabulary Achievement (Pre-Experimental Research on Seventh Grade Students in SMP Unismuh Makassar). The researcher used Pre-experimental Method with one group pre- and post-test, and data collection based on the test. The result of hypothesis testing of this research was (Sig (2-tailed) was 0.000, due to Sig < α (0.000 < 0.05), it can be concluded that pre-test and post-test have sig < a, and H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected, it means that using Mondly Application Language had significance for students' vocabulary mastery.

Penggunaan Bahasa Aplikasi Mondly untuk Meningkatkan Kompetensi Kosakata Siswa (Penelitian Pra Eksperimen pada Siswa Kelas VII SMP Unismuh Makassar). INTRODUCTION

Background

In this research, the students learn via mobile application with the help of the assistants. The students met the new words and followed the pronunciations of the wordsthroughAugmented Reality (AR) app in a week. At the beginning of the study, the participants were tested on their knowledge of the selected 40 figurative idioms.

After sending MMS messages of 10 idioms, a mini-test including filling in the blanks questions was sent to the participants as an MMS and the answers to the mini-test were sent after 2 hours. Based on the results, the participants who learned idioms through the use of the mobile application scored significantly better than traditional activities, indicating that the use of the mobile application was more effective in teaching idioms than the traditional activities. The first section of the survey covers the learners' personal information and the second section deals with mobile phone use in relation to language learning. His research shows that the majority of adult learners prefer vocabulary learning via cell phones because of the convenience facilitated by the portability and accessibility of the cell phones.

In their study, the 70 participants were asked to join the Facebook group after 70 participants were periodically sent material and information about the vocabulary that was intended to acquire particularly different words, spelling and was presented in an attractive manner, colorful, organized, reader-friendly. The test consists of multiple-choice questions. Their research shows that Facebook can become a very effective tool and medium for supporting learning and for self-learning English vocabulary. Based on the above explanation, the researcher states that some of the previous studies only teach students a few vocabulary words.

Problem Statement

The app also comes with a list of professional voice actors, so you can actually hear the language as it would be spoken in real time. As with any class, you'll memorize key words, form sentences and engage in conversation through the speech recognition capabilities within the app. The researcher therefore tries to conduct a research titled "The Use of Mondly Language Application to Improving Students' Vocabularies at the students of SMP UNISMUH MAKAASAR".

The researcher conducts the research in SMP Unismuh Makassar because he receives information from the teacher of SMP UNISMUH MAKASSAR that their students have low vocabulary in English, especially the seventh grade students.

Objective of the Research

The purpose of the research is to know if the use of Mondly Language Application is effective in improving students' vocabulary competence in the seventh grade student of SMP UNISMUH MAKASSAR.

According to Thempleton (2004), he said that vocabulary is the sum of words used, understood or commanded by a particular person or group. Sthal (2005) said that vocabulary is the knowledge of words and the meaning of words. knowledge of a word not only implies a definition, but also implies how that word fits into the context. Vocabulary is therefore very important in the educational learning process, because it is the basis for knowing to what extent students can understand English. Vocabulary plays an important role in language learning. Sounds like Harmer Schell in Sabaruddin (2003:6) divides vocabulary into three categories; active vocabulary, spare vocabulary and passive vocabulary. a) Active vocabulary, according to Schell, is the words we normally use when speaking.

In general the vocabulary is divided into two parts based on its types which is active and passive. While passive vocabulary is words that are rarely used in speech and writing, but we never see them. Wehmeler said that "Pronunciation is the way in which a given person pronounces the word of a language".

Wehmeler said that "Spelling is the act of correctly forming words from individual letters or the way a word is written." In other words, synonyms are words whose denotation is the same but has different connotation.

At the end of the treatment period, the post-test is used to assess the students' vocabulary. In this research, the independent variable was using the Mondly Language app to improve students' vocabulary achievement. The dependent variable in this research was the students' vocabulary achievement test score.

The research instrument, the researcher used vocabulary test for pre-test and post-test to assess students' vocabulary performance. The pre-test showed the students' prior knowledge of vocabulary before the treatment. To know, we could see significant difference (t-test) between the students' pre-test and post-test.

The findings contain data on students' vocabulary taken from the written knowledge test in the pre-text and post-test. H1: The use of Mondly language application is effective in improving students' vocabulary competence in seventh grade students of SMP UNISMUH MAKASSAR. H0: The use of Mondly language application is not effective in improving students' vocabulary competence in the seventh grade students of SMP UNISMUH MAKASSAR.

It can be assumed that the use of Mondly Language Application has a significant influence on improving students' vocabulary competence. Proper nouns (names of people and places) are usually not a problem for the students' performance and neither are the content words. The research findings indicated that the students' vocabulary competence through the use of Mondly Language Application showed an improvement in the students' vocabulary in meaning.

This was shown by the students' mean scores in the pre-test being lower than the post-test score. It can be concluded that there has been a significant effect on the use of the Mondly Language app for students' speaking comprehension. The teacher can use this Mondly Language App as one of the effective media in teaching English after seeing the students' achievements.

Pembelajaran Remedial dan Pengayaan a. Remedial

Selama proses pembelajaran guru mengamati sikap siswa dalam belajar yang meliputi: kedisiplinan, rasa percaya diri, perilaku jujur, ketahanan dalam menghadapi permasalahan, tanggung jawab, rasa ingin tahu, peduli lingkungan). Siswa yang tidak mencapai KKM atau siswa yang melebihi KKM dapat memperoleh catatan remedial. Remedial terdiri dari dua bagian yaitu remedial tidak mencapai KKM dan remedial tidak mencapai Kompetensi Dasar.

Pengayaan diberikan untuk menambah wawasan siswa terhadap materi pembelajaran yang dapat diberikan kepada siswa yang telah menyelesaikan KKM atau mencapai Kompetensi Dasar.
