Taheri (2016) The present study investigates the effect of the keyword method of vocabulary teaching on vocabulary learning and long-term retention in a normal EFL classroom context with a view to reading comprehension. Based on the above three experts, the entire researcher focuses on reading comprehension through the keyword method, the first research aims to find out how the use of the keyword method improves students' literal comprehension in reading comprehension, i the second focuses on researching the effect of the keyword method. , as one of the mnemonic strategies, on Iranian high school EFL students' vocabulary retention, which is very useful to improve reading comprehension. The latter research focuses on investigating the effect of the keyword method of teaching vocabulary on long-term vocabulary learning and retention in a normal EFL classroom context while this method can improve reading comprehension.

Concept of Reading

The sample of this research randomly selected one class of students from the entire class. The class was X Ipa 4 consisting of 20 students. Based on the result, it was concluded that there was improvement in the students' reading comprehension through the use of Keyword Method. Among his famous cubist paintings are "The Three Musician" and "The man with a guitar" which depicted the destruction of the Spanish town.

The Concepts of Reading Comprehension

It can be concluded that the keywords method is one of the memorization methods that could improve students' reading comprehension by associating keywords with new words, making it easier for students to remember new words. Mnemonic Keyword method is a method where a keyword is used to help the students understand the text and understand the new information. The keyword is a word that sounds like the language that students are familiar with in that word.

The use of the phonics link helps students to remember the new vocabulary as other methods rarely emphasize it.” (Haniatul Ummah, 2018). The key word method, a mnemonic that combines the two words, can be used to learn a wide range of subjects, but is particularly useful for acquiring new vocabulary concepts when, for example, studying another language. The key word method, Levin in McWhorter, is "a mnemonic method that helps students learn new information by associating it with key words." This means that Dehn and Levin have the same thoughts about the definition of the keyword method, that the keyword method is a memorization method that uses a familiar word.

Comprehension is almost impossible if the reader does not know the meaning of a sufficient part of the words. The keyword method allows students to connect new vocabulary words with words that students already know and can easily remember. It can be concluded that because words are the most important thing in communication, listening, speaking, reading and writing are all affected by the development of vocabulary, then by using the keyword method students will be able to easily remember new words by relating them to the words that students already know, students will have an improvement in reading comprehension after students know the average of the words in reading text.

The weakness of keyword method if the keyword chosen by the teacher has no connection with the student's prior knowledge, the student may have even more difficulty in remembering the definition of the term.

Conceptual Framework

It can be said that the weakness of these keywords lies in the mastery of students' vocabulary. If students already know a lot of vocabulary, this will make it easier for them to understand the definition of the new word. Otherwise, if students still lacked vocabulary, students would have difficulty remembering the definitions of the new terms.

The keyword method was used in the teaching of reading comprehension as one of the research independent variables. The aim of the test as a research instrument was to collect data on students' reading. The researcher asked the students to find the meaning of the words that the students listed.

The result of improving students' reading using descriptive multiple choice text is shown in the table below. This part presented the reading comprehension result of the students, such as the main idea and meaning of the vocabulary. The importance of improving students' reading comprehension Hypothesis testing is the following stage in the conclusion of this research.

The investigator used t-test analysis at the significance level (p) + 0.05 with the degree of freedom (dl) = N-1 number of subjects (20 students) to determine the significance level of the pre-test and post-test. The description of the data collected when reading the explanatory text in the previous section showed that the students' reading comprehension had improved. FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS

Findings

Research findings that teaching reading comprehension through the Key Words method can increase both literal and interpretive reading comprehension. Students' reading comprehension using the key word method in terms of literal comprehension (main idea) and interpretive comprehension (vocabulary comprehension). To answer the research question in the previous chapter, the researcher administered two types of tests such as the pre-test which was given before the treatment and the post-test which was given after the students received the treatment first.

The table shows students' improvement in finding literal (Main Idea) in reading as a result of calculating students' pre- and post-tests in terms of content and organization using descriptive text. The students' reading score on understanding vocabulary in the pre-test (58.50) is lower than the post-test (85.50). In interpretation comprehension (vocabulary comprehension), the mean score for the pre-test was 58.50 and the post-test was 85.50.

Based on the table above, it can be seen that the progress of the students before the test was that there were no students who received excellent, very good and good, also very good and good classifications. Based on the above table, it can be seen that the improvement of the students improved after the test, 7 (35%) students got very good and then 13 (65%) students got good. H0 showed that there was no significant change in the students' reading comprehension before and after considering the reading material in the descriptive text of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 01 Campalagian in the academic years 2020/2021.

In the academic years, the alternative Hypothesis (H1) indicated that there was a significant difference in students' reading comprehension before and after treatment reading material through the use of Keyword Method on descriptive text of.

Discussions

The result of the t-test value of the significant level (p) = 0.05 with degrees of freedom in Literal (df) = 19; in interpretation (df) = 19 was obtained from the pre-test and post-test scores. After calculating the t-test analysis value, it was compared with the t-table value. This means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted because there was a significant difference in the mean test score given by the researcher using the keyword method in the reading class.

Based on the above discussion, it can be said that the keyword method was one of the teaching methods that improved the reading comprehension of tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 01 Campalagian. The result of the t-test calculation of the indicators on the student's reading comprehension t-test (literal and interpretive comprehension) is greater than t-table 76.894 > 1.729. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Conclusion

The keyword method is effective to increase the literal understanding of the students in terms of the main idea, it was improved with the average score. The literal concept before and after giving the treatment is 52.50 becomes 77.50. Improves 47.61% with t-test value understanding of main idea is greater than t-table (27.981 > 1.729). Although the interpretive understanding of the students in terms of understanding vocabulary is improved by the mean score of interpretive understanding before and after giving a treatment is 48.50 becomes 85.50 improving 46.10% with the t-test value interpretive understanding is greater than the t-table (48.913 > 1.729).

Suggestion
