GENERAL INFORMATION

The School of Medicine curriculum provides time for all students to take courses of their choice. The design of the wing is contemporary in style, using exposed brick and concrete materials in keeping with the existing hospital and adjacent to the Stevenson Center for Natural Sciences. A northwest court building, completed in March 1970 and occupied in April of that year, provides space for the Department of Neurology, the Biomedical Sciences vision, the accounts and reports division, and the offices of the Director of Student Services for Medical School.

The Medical Center's laboratories and clinical facilities are closely coordinated allowing a ready flow of ideas between the Medical Center's laboratories. Demonstrations and displays of books and photos of historical significance are available courtesy of the Medical Library. All Vanderbilt students are eligible to use the services of the Student Health Service.

During hours when the Health Department is closed, students may receive medical care at the Vanderbilt University Hospital Emergency Department. Coverage runs from August 21 through August 20 of the following year, regardless of whether a student remains in school or is absent from college.
