REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Some Pertinent Ideas

As a teacher, the Think-Pair-Share technique can be an effective tool to promote classroom discussions. The goal of pronunciation teaching should be to enable students to produce English speech that is understandable in the areas where they use it. The teaching of English in vocational high school has a different concept from that in general high schools at the same level.

The objectives of teaching English in the vocational school can be seen in the English language curriculum for SMK in Depdiknas. English is said to be an adaptive subject, in which it aims to provide students with the ability to communicate in English in the communicative material contexts necessary for students' speaking and writing skills. In addition, the English language also puts students in front of the ability to communicate in daily life based on the global standard and gives students the opportunity to develop communication at a higher level26.

There are a few thoughts to keep in mind when teaching high school students. One example is that they need to be able to use expressions of offers, commands and responses related to their future career.

Conceptual Framework

To fulfill the pronunciation aspect, they must produce the correct stress and intonation to convey the intended meaning. Finally, interactional communication refers to the testers' ability to respond appropriately to interlocutors at the speed and pace required to meet the demands of the task.31. Each category has 5 steps and the teacher must choose one of the levels.32 Based on the above explanation, the researcher concludes that teaching speaking through the visible thinking technique is more fun and interesting, because students can cooperate when they communicate. in pairs or groups.

They have time to think individually, talk in pairs, and finally share answers with the large group. Based on problems, the Visible Thinking Technique will be applied as a technique to improve students' speaking skills. The Visible Thinking technique is used because the teacher rarely pairs the students with two pairs during the teaching-learning process.

In addition, students enjoy learning together as their learning can be facilitated through pair work. Working in pairs, it will simultaneously have a positive impact on students' self-esteem, pronunciation and vocabulary learning materials.

RESEARCH FINDING AND DISCUSSION

Summary of the Finding

No Before implementation After implementation Performance indicators I. stage II. 1. Students. Some students might speak in falling or higher intonation depending on the type of sentences. Almost all students who could speak in a falling tone raise the intonation according to the type of sentence.

Most of the students were able to make a dialogue well without questioning the meaning of the words.

Discussion

By using this technique, the students had more opportunities to speak in English because they had a partner to share their ideas and provide feedback. The students were motivated to show their improvement in speaking because the classroom situation was active and enjoyable. Moreover, to increase students' motivation, the teacher had to take other actions to improve students' motivation by reframing the active students.

The latter, the implementation of Visible Thinking Technique, has positive effects on the students' speaking ability. The students were able to speak fluently and confidently after being taught the Visible Thinking Technique. Furthermore, the steps involved in performing the Visible Thinking Technique provide them with opportunities to practice and boost their motivation to speak English.

This chapter discusses the study's conclusion, implication and suggestions for the English teacher, the students and the other researchers.
