This thesis is presented as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd) in the Department of English entitled: “IMPACT OF USING GOUIN AND SERIES METHODS ON WRITING SKILLS OF STUDENTS IN EIGHTH GRADE MTs NURUL ULUM KOTAGAJAH CENTRAL LAMPUNG”. Finally, I hope that the results of the research will make a significant contribution to the teaching of English learning in MTs Nurul Ulum Kotagajah Lampung Tengah.

Writing included the following basic skills: writing or typing by hand, spelling, constructing grammatical sentences, punctuation.'4 The aim of the researcher is the beautiful writing needs the knowledge obtained through reading, practicing writing and also practicing of writing itself and it has done that.

And so the series method was born, one that taught learners directly (without translation) and conceptually (without grammar rules and explanations) a "series" of connected sentences that are easy to perceive. Those claims prove that the repeated use of the same subjects and complements would facilitate memorization and pronunciation accurately and allow the mind to focus on each different action and the verb it expresses as it is considered to be the most important element of the sense and the most. difficult to master. Teaching Writing by Using Gouin and the Series Method

The researcher tells the rules (one of the student goes forward in front of the class and the student does the sequences that the researcher gives. The independent variable is Gouin and the sequence and the dependent variable is writing skill. One of the methods that can be used in teaching and learning process, especially in the teaching of writing skills is by Gouin and the series.

Conversely, if the use of Gouin and the series method is inappropriate, the students'. Paradigm of the influence of using Gouin and the series method on students' writing skills. Referring to the figure above, it shows that if the use of Gouin and the serial method is good, then the students' writing skills are also good.

Therefore, there is a positive and significant influence of the use of gouin and the series method on students' writing skills. If the use of the Gouin and the series method is bad, the writing skills of the students are also bad. Therefore, there is no positive and significant influence of the use of Gouin and the series method on students' writing skills.

Research Hypothesis

There is no positive or significant influence of the use of Gouin and the Series method on the writing skills of eighth grade students of MTs Nurul Ulum Kotagajah. IF: Fo > Ft ,Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected IF: Fo < Ft ,Ha is rejected and Ha is accepted.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Design

Both groups received the pre-test on the instrument used to assess the effect of the experiment (here the test) before the treatment is given, and a post-test, the same instrument, after the treatment is given. Data Collection Method

The pre-test was given to the students in the first meeting to find out students' ability at the beginning before using Gouin and the series method in their writing activity. While the post-test was given in the last meeting after treatment to find out if the statement makes any contribution to the students' ability in the then experimental class is higher than the control class or is there significant difference between the experimental class and the control class scores .

Research Instrument

As a result of the research on procedural writing, the research instrument used in current research is in the form of writing test or composition of procedural writing. Instrument calibration is screening or examination of items of instrument made by the researcher.38 In other words, it can be inferred that instrument calibration is scale of measurement used for screening or examination of items of instrument composed by researcher. Content validity refers to whether or not the content of the manifest variable is right to measure the talent concept the researcher is trying to measure.39.

Also, in this research, the researcher used logical validity in the form of content validity, which the writer compiled the test instrument based on the subject content of the syllabus of this class. In addition, the writer is used test instrument to obtain the scale of the instrument that the standard of the writing test results are as follows.

Data Analysis Technique

Amir as the fourth principal and the last one was headed by Mahfud Efendi, S.Pd.I as the fifth principal until now. The result of the students' writing skill in pretest of eighth grade by MTers Nurul Ulum Kotagajah. Frequency Distribution of Students' Writing Proficiency in Eighth Grade Pretest by MTers Nurul Ulum Kotagajah.

It shows that the result of the students' writing skills in the pre-test was unsatisfactory because many students scored poorly. In addition, the table below illustrated the frequency distribution of students' writing skills in the pre-test. The post-test was conducted to know the performance of students after treatments. The result of the students' pre- and post-tests is to find out whether the treatments using Gouin and the series method have affected the students' writing skills. The result of the students' post-test can be identified as follows:.

To find out whether there is positive and significant influence of using Gouin and series method on students' writing skills in eighth grade of MTs Nurul Ulum Kotagajah, the author used T-test formula. The result of the pre-test and post-test of students' writing skill in the eighth grade of MTs Nurul Ulum Kotagajah. From the value above, it can be inferred that there is a positive and significant influence of Using Gouin and the serial method towards students' writing skills in the eighth grade of MTs Nurul Ulum Kotagajah.

Therefore, it can be concluded that "there is a positive and significant influence of using Gouin and the serial method towards students' writing skills of the eighth grade of MTers Nurul Ulum Kotagajah." Finally, the result of this research explained that the theory of the influence of using Gouin and the serial method towards students' writing skills was success in the eighth grade of MTs Nurul Ulum Kotagajah. There was a significant impact of using Gouin and the serial method on students' writing skills in the eighth grade of MT's Nurul Ulum Kotagajah.
