First report of two species of Cladosporium associated with turfgrass leaf spot

Abstract
Turfgrass is one of the most important plants in urban greenspace. In addition to beautifying urban space, this plant has a main role in air purification and reduction its pollution in urban environments. Several fungal diseases can cause disorder in the beneficial activities of turfgrass, including the fungal leaf spot caused by Cladosporium species. In a study, in order to identify the fungi that cause turfgrass leaf spot, the samples were collected from different areas of Ardabil greenspace. Leaves segments were surface- sterilized using Sodium Hypochlorite 0/5%, and rinsed in sterilized distilled water twice. Then cultured on PDA medium. PDA and SNA media were used to identify the isolates. Among the isolated fungi, Cladosporium was significantly abundant. In order to identification of Cladospotium species, microscopic characteristics, such as length, width, ramification of conidiophores and location of the conidiogenous loci and features of conidia, ramoconidia and their surface ornamentation examined. Cladosporium basinflatum and C. globisporum were identified based on authentic mycological keys. Both species are reported for the first time in the world.
Generally understanding of pathogenic agents of turfgrass, can help to control the diseases and resulte in beter maintaining.
