GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Lk. 17:26-37) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke

As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of man. They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Likewis, as it was in the days of Lot -- they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom fire and sulphur rained from heaven and destroyed them all -- so will it be on the day when the Son of man is revealed. On that day, let him who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away; and likewise let him who is in the field not turn back. Remember Lot's wife. Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. There will be two women grinding together; one will be taken and the other left." And they said to him, "Where, Lord?" He said to them, "Where the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together."

REFLECTION:

When the day of God's final judgment and vindication comes, the scene and location will be obvious to all. Those who have rejected God and refused to believe in his Son the Lord Jesus Christ will perish on the day of judgment - just like the beasts of prey who are cut off from the land of the living. The Lord Jesus will vindicate those who have believed in him and he will reward them with everlasting joy and happiness in his kingdom. The return of the Lord Jesus at the close of this present age is certain, but the time is unknown. The Day of the Lord's judgment and final verdict will come swiftly and unexpectedly. Jesus warns his listeners to not be caught off guard when that day arrives. It will surely come in God's good time!

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, help me to never lose sight of the goal of heaven that I may live each day in joyful anticipation of your return in glory. Amen.

GUIDELINES ON EARTHQUAKE DRILL

Please be informed that we will have an earthquake drill on November 21, 2018 at 8:40am. Please be guided by the following instructions:

1. Mr. Reinard Anog, our IS Evacuation Committee Head, together with all the committee members, in coordination with Mr. Roland Bragais and Mr. Ariel Bejasa Jr, DLSL Security and Safety Officers and Mr.

Michael Kasilag, the ISSESO Head will facilitate the earthquake drill.

2. The alarm system will be activated in a minute or so to prompt everybody that there is an earthquake in progress. During this time all occupants of the classroom need to do the “DUCK/DROP, COVER and HOLD”. No one is yet allowed to leave the classrooms or offices while the alarm system is still on.

3. When the siren has stopped, that is the time when everybody should leave the classrooms and offices immediately following the planned route discussed by the GMs with the class presidents/class representatives. Routes will also be posted in the GM’s Bulletin Board

4. Presidents should be the first one on the line to lead the class, bringing the flaglets on the classroom. On the other hand, class secretary and earth marshal will be the last persons to ensure that all classmates had left the room and the lights, fan and ACU are turned off.

5. Students are to leave all valuables in the classroom and the objective is to reach the evacuation site the quickest way possible. Classroom doors must be locked for the security of the students’ belongings. LS and BB Building occupants must be able to leave the building in three 3 minutes!

6. Floor Marshal are designated at each floor of the building to ensure all students and partners have left the building.

On Effective Communication Part 2

How to Be a Good Listener in Class

4. Ask questions when you're unsure. Anytime you're unsure about what's going on, or if you have a follow-up question, ask it. Contribute to the conversation that's happening in class. Raise your hand and wait to be called on to ask questions properly. If you have a question, chances are someone else does too.

*Respond when questions are asked, as well. If your teacher puts a question to the class, raise your hand if you have a good answer.

*You don't have to answer every question. Responding a few times a day is enough. Let other people talk and give them a chance to contribute too.

5. Don't sit with your best friends. It's difficult to stay focused and pay attention in class when you're friends are distracting you. It might seem like more fun to get through class while sitting next to a buddy, but that's exactly how you'll get into trouble and struggle. Instead, sit elsewhere and decide to hang out later.

*If you still want to sit with your friends, sit in the front of the classroom so your friends will have to, too. It's hard to mess around when you're right next to the teacher.

6. Be prepared for class. When it's time to go to class, make sure you've got everything that you need ready to go, so you won't have to miss anything because you're struggling to catch up. You'll miss part of a lecture if you're trying to finish your homework before class starts.
