As far as I'm concerned, there are two very noticeable trends in graduate school at the University of the Philippines. Let me say it again: we must now evaluate our graduate programs from the point of view of the purpose of the university. Part of the revenue from the tuition increase will therefore be plowed back directly to students in the form of scholarship subsidies.
I argue that the challenge consisted in the extreme politicization of the major areas of economic activity.
