THE HOLY GOSPEL (Mk 1:14-20) The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God. “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” As he passed by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Then they left their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.
Reflection:
Mark portrays his calling four fishermen to be his disciples. Simon and his brother Andrew, and James and his brother John, he tells them that he will make them “fishers of men” who will hence forth “catch” people. They who have worked to bring fish from the sea will now be trained to bring people to the kingdom of God.
Prayer:
Loving Father, you gave the evangelists the privilege of proclaiming your gospel. May we profit by their wisdom and follow Christ more faithfully. We ask this through Christ your Son Jesus, Amen.

This Pope Francis' Five Finger Prayer maybe prayed by the Grade School students during their prayer service in the morning aside from the one to be provided by the CL teachers. Thank you so much and may we find JOY in living the Gospel.
Pope Francis' Five Finger Prayer
Using the fingers on your hand, start with the thumb and pray these intentions in this order:
1.) The thumb is closest finger to you. So start praying for those who are closest to you. They are the persons easiest to remember. To pray for our dear ones is a "Sweet Obligation."
2.) The next finger is the index. Pray for those who teach you, instruct you and heal you. They need the support and wisdom to show direction to others. Always keep them in your prayers.
3.) The following finger is the tallest. It reminds us of our leaders, the governors and those who have authority. They need God's guidance.
4.) The fourth finger is the ring finger. Even though it may surprise you, it is our weakest finger. It should remind us to pray for the weakest, the sick or those plagued by problems. They need your prayers.
5.) And finally we have our smallest finger, the smallest of all. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself.
When you are done praying for the other four groups, you will be able to see your own needs but in the proper perspective, and also you will be able to pray for your own needs in a better way.

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:
POST-HOLIDAY DETOXING
After the holidays -- with their traditional onslaught of stuffing, gravy, and mountains of chocolate -- our bodies are begging for a detox session. When it comes to shedding water weight and eliminating toxins, we rely on the liver and other organs,
and there are several ways to give them a boost. Here are a few ingredients to be sure to include in your diet over the coming days to enter 2015 on the right foot.
Herbal teas and tinctures
Health food stores are the first place to go when the need for a detox sets in, as they offer natural products known to help the body eliminate toxins. Some classic detox aids include tinctures and teas made with rosemary, artichoke, burdock, dandelion, black radish, peppermint, lavender or lemon essential oil.
Water, water and more water
After a period of excess, water is one of your best allies when it comes to flushing out the system. Particularly while attempting to detox, it is important to drink around 50 to 70 fluid ounces of water per day (1.5 to 2 liters). Drinking H2O helps to promote better digestion and, somewhat counter intuitively, to shed water weight. To reap even more benefits, choose bottled mineral water that is rich in calcium and magnesium and low in sodium.
