KAU’s World-Class Status . . Statistical Indicators
King Abdulaziz University (KAU) has made a quali- tative leap in the field of scientific research – there- by attaining, in record time, a prestigious ranking among world-class universities. This is a direct con- sequence of its higher administration’s full support for scientific research by providing incentives for staff members and researchers, as well as an atmosphere conducive to innovation and creativity. Indeed, KAU President Professor Osama Sadiq Tayeb has always asserted that elevating the university’s international ranking depends to a great extent on the qualitative and quantitative outputs of scientific research.
The Deanship of Scientific Research has imple- mented these directives by increasing the number of endowed scientific research programs and awards.
Moreover, it has embarked on developing teaching staff members’ skills through various scientific re- search functions and activities.
This brochure presents a statistical survey of the Deanship of Scientific Research’s activities and pro- grams which have quickly elevated KAU’s world standing and enhanced its competitiveness – en- abling it to be included for the very first time in highly renowned international rankings of world uni- versities. The statistical data also describes the rate of progress in scientific research at KAU and the rapid increase in its ISI publications.
