S T U D Y ON POTENTIAL U S E OF POLYACRYLAMIDE (PAM) IN SOIL EROSION CONTROL
The use of medium molecular weight anionicpolyacrylamide (PAW to prevent soil erosion was studied by sedimentation rate, aggregate stability and infiltration rate measurements. The results show that PAM i n dilute solution had a profound effect on the particle size distribution and the aggregate resistance to dispersion. PAM decreases the runoff and has a beneficial effect on soil conservation and soil structure on erodible soils and can improve infiltration. Microstructural morphology o f soil and PAM- treated soil were also characterized.
