Die Redaktcurc van die Amarkliese Bullerin verwelkom bydraes oor enige onderwerp in verband met Antarktika, veral in verband met Suid-Afrikaanse bedrywighcde in Antarktika. 'n Onlangse lesersopinieoorsig het die onderstaande volgordc van gewildheid van onderwcrpc aangedui:
(I) Populere wetenskaplike artikels.
(2) Ekspedisies.
(3) Verblyf-en werksomstandighede in Antarktika.
(4) Geskiedkundige nuus.
(5) Artikels oor dierelewe.
(6) Sosiale nuus.
Bydraes moet aan die redaktcure by die bogenoemde adres gestuur word.
Die Bulle/in word kwarttaalliks gepubliseer en word gratis aan lede van die Suid-Afrikaanse Antarktiese Vereniging gestuur. Die koste vir lidmaatskap beloop R2,00 per jaar. lndien lidmaatskap van die Vereniging verlang word kan op die onderstaande of soortgelyke vorm voltooi word en aan die bostaande adres gepos.

Internatio nal G eophys ical Yea r) o f 1957 to 1958 . The I MS has as its chie f o bjective a co mpre hens ive unde r- sta nding o f the dy namical processes which co ntrol th e nea r ea rth magneti c fie ld a nd charged pa rticl e enviro n- ment. The ope ratio na l basis for thi s enterprise is a pl an t o co-o rdina te th e programme of o bservatio ns made fr om s pace cra ft with each othe r, a nd a lso with observa- ti ons mad e fr om th e gro und , a irc ra ft, ba lloo ns a nd rockets.
The first decade of space resea rc h us ing a rtificial sate llites has been completed . It has been a deca de of intens ive ex plora ti on in the Ea rth-S un system a nd th e kn owledge gained is s taggering. The ex plo ratory phase
is now drawing to a cl ose, but fa r fro m having ex hausted th e reservoir of stro ngly releva nt investiga tion , th e past decade has created a rese rvoir of fund a menta l questio ns accessible to co-o rdina ted, di agnostic ex periment.
We may co nfi d ently ex pect tha t in this next phase South Africa will fulfi l her ro le in co ntributing to knowledge of th e nat ure a nd hi story o f the terrestria l invironme nt.

The Editors of the Anlarclic Buller in welcome contributions on any subject pertaining to the Antarctic and in particular to South African Antarctic Activities. According to a recent opinion poll, readers place subject matter in the following order of popularity:
(I) Popular scientific articles.
(2) Expeditions.
(3) Living and working conditions in Antarctica.
(4) Historical articles.
(5) Articles on animal life.
(6) Articles of social interest.
Contributions should be submitted to the editors at the above address.
