BRITS POS – BRITS - Mediclinic Brits is currently improving the hospital to better cater for the needs of the community.
Part of this project includes upgrades to the main entrance to the hospital in Kerk Street, and as a result has been temporarily closed for general entry.
This will be used as an emergency entrance for ambulances only.

Wanneer ‘n mens aan Intertoy Toyota dink, dink jy dadelik aan Francois Rossouw, want vir meer as 20 jaar was hy ‘n mentor en sakeman van formaat, wat altyd bereid was om sy kennis te deel, raad of ‘n woordjie van bemoediging te gee.
Alhoewel sy plek leeg en daar ‘n groot gemis is, het hy in besigheid en sy privaat lewe ‘n stewige grondslag gelê, waarop daar nou voortgebou kan word.
Francois word deur sy vrou, Martie, kinders Francois, Walter en Cindy, hulle eggenote, asook sy kleinkinders oorleef.
Sy roudiens vind môre Donderdag, 8 September om 11:00 vanuit die NG Kerk Krokodilrivier plaas.

BRITS POS – BRITS - An unsuspecting resident (50) of Damonsville drove in his vehicle, an Audi to the Total Garage at the well- known Alfa Crossing, outside Brits where he put petrol into his car and bought food from the KFC on Tuesday, 30 August around 19:30.
On his way out, a young boy indicated that he needed a lift. He stopped next to the boy and rolled the window of his car down to ascertain where he was going. Suddenly an armed man approached and held him at gunpoint, hitting the victim with the firearm on his head and five more suspects (one female) approached, and the victim was forced into the back of his vehicle. A white VW Polo stopped next to his vehicle and the suspects drove off in the two vehicles on the Wagpos road and then onto a gravel road. The suspects tied the victim up and took his bank card and demanded the victim’s bank card pin number. One of the suspects guarded the victim while the others went to withdraw cash (R4 500) and put fuel in their vehicle.
The suspects returned, took two cellphones, the vehicle’s spare wheel and jack and informed the victim that he will find his vehicle and the keys next to the road.
The victim was severely assaulted, but alive and he managed to free himself and cases of kidnapping and armed robbery were registered at Brits police station.
“The assistance of the community is needed to arrest these robbers,” said Col Adéle Myburgh, SAPS North West spokesperson. Anyone who has information can contact Brits police station on 012 381 6077.

BRITS POS – KLIPGAT – A horrific scene awaited police members on Sunday, around 07:30 when they were informed of an adult male, Josias Morwapula Phuti (45) that was found at the gate to his residence in Mashamplane, Klipgat.

“Phuti had allegedly been stabbed to death with a sharp object and the motive for the attack is unknown,”
says Col Adéle Myburgh, SAPS North West spokesperson.
A murder case was registered at Klipgat police station and anyone with information on the case can contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Mogadingoane on 012 707 8900.

BRITS POS – MAKOLOKWE - A resident (66) in the Bethanie policing area was celebrating her birthday with four neighbours at her house, when unexpectedly two men forcefully pushed the door to the house open.
Both were armed (firearm and screwdriver) and a warning shot was fired into the ground by the attackers. They took the home owner’s cellphone and fled the scene.
No one was injured during the robbery.

Woman lured from tavern, raped
BRITS POS – BAPONG - A woman (27) and a friend visited a tavern in New Town, Bapong, on Sunday, 4 September 2022, when her friend left her side for a moment.
She was then approached by a male who told her that her friend was being assaulted outside the premises. She rushed outside, when the man pulled out a knife and threatened the victim to follow him. He took her across the road where he raped her. According to Col Adéle Myburgh, spokesperson SAPS North West a case of rape was registered at the Mooinooi police station, but
was transferred to Brits Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) and anyone with information can contact the Investigating Officer, Const Mofulwane on 082 557 1904 or Lieutenant Colonel Tjale of Brits Detectives on 082 546 0382. Members of the public can also call the nearest police station or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

BRITS POS – LETLHABILE – Five men of which two were armed overpowered a security guard as he was doing his rounds at a chicken farm, demanding money on Saturday, 3 September around 00:45 The suspects assaulted him and took him to the guard house and also found his brother there.

That brings to an end a fraught six-month period for those who applied for such visas, previously handled by individual South African missions abroad, and makes consular officials responsible again for deciding who is let in to South Africa.
Visa specialists Xpatweb first noted the reversal on the weekend, saying it expected an announcement from the department on the transitional arrangement for visas already in process.The Department of Home Affairs said that it “did issue a new directive which came into effect on Thursday, 1 September 2022”. It did not provide a copy of the directive, despite repeated requests and has made no public statement on the matter. Extreme delays in
issuing such visas – with delays facilitation companies described as unprecedented – have been a significant headache for foreign companies investing and doing business in South Africa, Business Leadership SA CEO Busisiwe Mavuso said.
Those affected have included companies that signed up to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s investment drive, but have since said delays nearing a year in processing work visas for critical foreign staff meant they could not start work. Some companies expressed acute frustration because they could find no way to reach a department official who could provide even a vague prediction of how long a visa would take – or who could even confirm
that a visa application had been accepted as properly lodged – making it impossible to plan moves for employees who needed to secure places in schools for children and move their households across oceans.
Until Thursday last week, all work visa applications with a duration of more than three months had to be sent to Pretoria for a decision by the director general of the DHA, in an effort to create consistency and prevent corruption.
Visa facilitators said missions were told the DHA was concerned about reports of arbitrary demands for documents, with the implication that these were subtle solicitations for bribes. They were also told that only central decision-making could balance the need for national security with the need to allow foreign investors to move with speed.
Currently, only 18 percent of municipalities in the North West are compliant with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA). This was said at the two-day seminar hosted by the Compensation Fund in partnership with the North West Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), focusing on municipalities’
compliance with COIDA.
Speaking at the seminar Bheki Ngcobo, Director: Employer Services said the country has a total of 267 municipalities registered with the Compensation Fund (CF) and only 55% of them were compliant. He said in the
North West, 20 out of 22 were registered with the Fund and their compliance level was at 18%. “The level of compliance by municipalities, in general, is a worrying factor and it can expose the vulnerable employees to unnecessary circumstances;
and also has dire consequences to the municipalities that include penalties payable by non-compliant employers”, said Ngcobo.
Ngcobo further informed seminar attendees that municipalities, as employers, have the obligation to register with the Fund as soon as they employ one or more employees, to accurately declare the nature of their business and report all the accidents in the workplace.
“Municipalities should work towards total compliance with COIDA in order to protect the vulnerable workers. As SALGA we support this initiative by CF and appreciate the Fund for being proactive” said Dr Malebogo Mogotsi, Senior Advisor: Human Resource, Labour Relations and Dispute Resolution at SALGA said
SALGA’s sentiments were also shared by COGTA. Delivering the message of support from COGTA, Elizabeth Mmutle – Acting Chief Director: Local Governance, encouraged municipalities to comply and pay their dues in order to avoid litigations and related financial implications. “compliance should be non-negotiable and municipalities should appoint qualified experienced officials for this function” said Mmutle.

Zianelle Grobler, ‘n leerling van Laerskool Olienpark het onlangs in die drama-afdeling,
aan die Poort Kunstefees, in Pretoria deelgeneem en uitstekend presteer. Sy het vier A++ en twee A+ simbole in verskillende drama-
afdelings verwerf.

Laerskool Olienpark se redenaars is besig om die land aan die brand te praat en na verskeie kompetisies het dié groep Parkies gekwalifiseer om aan die finale ronde van die Artistatue Redenaars- kompetisie in Midstream deel te neem. Artistatue Redenaars streef daarna om vir leerlinge

BRITS POS – BRITS - By Laerskool Elandskraal se Lentedagviering was daar hope gees en personeel en leerders het uitbundig en met oorgawe deelgeneem.
Die vrolike, vriendelike drie varkies, Zan Swart, Nicole Nel en Monique du Toit het hope pret gehad.
Die leerders het vir ‘Boesman’ geniet en klastyd was ‘n welkome blaaskansie.
Staden en Katryn) saam met Rooies (Justin Hubsch) het spontaan saam met die leerders baljaar.
Laerskool Olienpark se opedag, Saterdag, 3 September, was ‘n klinkklare sukses met talle toekomstige leerders en ouers wat die skool besoek het. Besoekers is deur kleurvolle ballonne begroet, terwyl bekwame personeel meer oor die skool se fasiliteite en aktiwiteite vertel het. Nie net het elke maatjie verrassings gekry nie, maar was daar ‘n gesellige atmosfeer met braaivleisvure en heerlike worsbroodjies vir almal. Die hoof, James Mc Carthy en personeel bedank almal
wat die dag se verrigtinge bygewoon het.

Voorwaarts celebrates Spring
Spring is in the air! The pupils of Voorwaarts Primary School welcomed Spring last week, with colourful and
happy celebrations. The day was complemented by the gr.7-pupils who showcased their entrepreneurial skills
with many different stalls where interesting and tasty items were for sale. The day was ‘n huge success and all
the gr.7-entrepreneurs made good profit.

Franco skitter in sege
BRITS POS – MOOINOOI – Wat vir die Australiërs ‘n tour de force in hul manjifieke nuwe stadion moes wees, was toe die Springbokke se eerste wen in nege jaar Doer Onder.

Elandskraal se yster, Franco Mostert, was een van die uitblinkers tydens dié wedstryd wat voorafge- gaan is deur baie ontevredenheid deur Springbokondersteuners.
Die vorige week het die Wallabies die
‘Bokke ‘n lelike bloedneus gegee - en, Suid-Afrikaners sluk baie swaar aan ‘n verloor teen die Australiërs. Maar Saterdag was dit ‘n Bokspan wat meer as bloot begeesterd was, hulle was onwrikbaar. Ja, daar was foute en daar was geleenthede wat nie ontgin is nie, maar Saterdag se
‘Bokke was selde op die agtervoet’ - en dit het die wêreld se verskil gemaak.
Behalwe Mostert wat ‘n sleutelfiguur was, het kaptein Siya Kolisi aangevoer, gelei, en soos ‘n besetene verdedig.
Die twee Damians - De Allende en
Willemse - was uitstekend, en Willie le Roux, wat maar ‘n redelike wipplankverhouding met Bokondersteuners het, was in dié wedstryd ‘n raakvatter.
Eintlik was die enigste speler op die veld wat ietwat teleurgestel het, Jesse Kriel. Hy het egter wel ‘n paar goeie duikslae uitgevoer. Die prys vir Debutant van die Jaar moet ongetwyfeld aan die 19-jarige Canan Moodie gaan. Sy onderskepdrie was ‘n pragstuk en een van die sleutelstukke in die Springbokke se 24-8 oorwinning. Die komende naweek het ons manne ‘n blaaskans, voor hul op 17 September teen Argentinië in Suid- Amerika speel. Rugbyondersteuners hoef egter beslis nie dié naweek droëbek te sit nie - die Kaapstad Sewes sal vir meer as genoeg aksie sorg.

– MOOINOOI – Suid-Afrikaners is opgewonde om die finaal van die Wêreldbeker- Sewestoernooi vir 2022 wat oor drie dae, van 9 tot 11 September in die Moederstad, Kaapstad gehou word, op horings te neem en vir ons wat nie so gelukkig is om daar te wees nie, is die ‘kassie’ darem ‘n welkome troos.
Shaun Williams (24), ‘n oud-Laerskool Elandskraal-leerder draf in sy nommer 9-trui uit en dié Blitzbok, wat verlede jaar sy debuut gemaak het en in sewe Wêreldbeker- toernooie gespeel het, spog reeds met ‘n puntetotaal van 80.
Die Blitzbokke neem ook afskeid van die meesterbrein- sewesafrigter, Neil Powell, wat sy loopbaan as direkteur van rugby by die Sharks gaan voortsit.
