The marriage of Rachel, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Gitlin, of Capetown, to Morris, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. S.
Shaskolsky, of Observatory, will take place at the Great Synagogue, Gardens, on Tuesday, 3rd November, at 2.30 p.m. A reception will be held at the Zionist Hall from 3-6 p.m., to which relatives and friends are cordially invited.
News has been received in Johannesburg by cable from Jerusalem, that a daughter has been born to Dr. and Mrs. W. Kark
(nee Gertrude Jan ow er).

The W olmarans Street Synagogue, where the ceremony was performed by the Chief Rabbi, Dr. J. L. Landau, assisted by Cantor Alter and a choir, had been decor- ated with white carnations and fern. The unterfuhrers were Mr. and Mrs. Simon Levin, the uncle and aunt of the bride- groom, and Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Rubin.
The pole-bearers were Mr. Max Rubin, Mr.
Hymie Brudno, Mr. Sam Brudno, and Mr.
Cyril Segal.
The bride was given away by her father and her bridesmaids were Miss Celia Celine (maid of honour), Miss Doris Zlotnick, Miss Freda Levin, Miss Anne Shapiro and Miss Doris Mentor. Mr. Solly Rubin, the brother of the bride, was the best man and the groomsmen were Mr. Jack Sachs, Mr.
Solly Sachs, Mr. Ralph Steele and Mr. Jack Suskin. The page boy was Master Leon Aronsohn.
Masonic Ball
The four constitutions of masonry in the Transvaal have joined and are holding a Jubilee Ball in the City Hall, Johannes- burg, on Wednesday, October 21st. Dancing will be from 8.30 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Alec Benjamin's augmented orchestra has been booked for the event. Tables are being arranged cabaret fashion and can be re- served with the hon. organiser, phone 22-5256.
As th~ proceeds are in aid of the Trans- vaal Masonic Educational Institution and the Transvaal Masonic Benevolent Fund, it is confidently expected that there will be a large attendance of masons and their friends at the dance.
