Sebagai bukti komitmen Perseroan terhadap perlindungan lingkungan kerja, Perseroan telah menugaskan unit kerja yang secara khusus bertugas mengelola Keselamatan, Kesehatan kerja dan Lingkungan Hidup (HSE). Perseroan secara konsisten dan sungguh-sungguh juga melaksanakan peraturan dan ketentuan, termasuk yang diatur dalam Sistem Manajemen Lingkungan (ISO 14000) maupun sistem Manajemen Keselamatan Kesehatan Kerja (SMK3).
Pengelolaan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja di PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. selain bertujuan untuk melindungi para pekerja dan orang lain di tempat kerja, juga akan menjamin setiap sumber produksi dapat dipakai secara aman dan eisien guna menjamin proses produksi dapat berjalan dengan lancar.
Dalam pengelolaan K3, Perseroan menerapkan Sistem Manajemen Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (SMK3) sesuai dengan Peraturan Pemerintah No 50 tahun 2012 tentang Penerapan Sistem Manajemen Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja dan OHSAS 18001: 2007. As evidence of the Company’s commitment to protect the working environment, the Company has commissioned a unit with the speciic task of managing Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). The Company has consistently and also studiously implemented rules and regulations, including those set out in the Environmental Management System (ISO 14000) and Occupational Health Safety Management (SMK3) systems.
The management of Occupational Safety and Health in PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. also aims to protect workers and others in the workplace, and will also ensure that each production source can be used safely and eiciently to ensure a smooth production process.
In the management of Occupational Safety and Health, the Company adopted the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) in accordance with Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 regarding the implementation of OHS system and OHSAS 18001: 2007. The OHS programs includes occupational health services, medical cost
identiikasi dan penilaian risiko, program pengukuran/ pemantauan lingkungan kerja, dan program pencegahan kecelakaan kerja.
Program pelayanan kesehatan kerja yang dilaksanakan cakupannya cukup luas tidak hanya soal pemeriksaan kesehatan sebelum bekerja, berkala (setahun sekali) dan khusus. Perseroan juga melaksanakan pembinaan dan pengawasan penyesuaian pekerjaan terhadap karyawan termasuk terhadap karyawan dengan kelainan tertentu, pembinaan dan pengawasan lingkungan kerja dan sanitasi, pencegahan terhadap penyakit umum dan penyakit akibat kerja, pertolongan pertama pada kecelakaan, kegiatan promotif dan preventif dalam bentuk pendidikan dan pelatihan kesehatan bagi karyawan, pembinaan dan pengawasan gizi kerja, serta rehabilitasi medis dan okupasional.
Program pencegahan kecelakaan kerja yang dilaksanakan adalah:
1. Pengawasan terhadap tindakan dan kondisi tidak aman
2. Pengadaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) 3. Investigasi kecelakaan/kebakaran
4. Pembuatan dan perawatan rambu-rambu K3
5. Pemeriksaan peralatan pemadam kebakaran (APAR, hydrant, mobil PMD, sprinkler)
6. Melakukan simulasi tanggap darurat
7. Melakukan pelatihan K3 terhadap semua karyawan 8. Melaksanakan Bulan K3 yaitu: lomba cepat tepat,
lomba TTD, lomba sanitasi toilet & kantin & seminar K3 9. Pembinaan dan pengawasan penyesuaian pekerjaan
terhadap karyawan termasuk terhadap karyawan dengan kelainan tertentu

Dalam bidang lingkungan, Perseroan telah menetapkan visi dalam program jangka panjang, yaitu “To be a Leading Green and Environmental Friendly Industry.” Untuk mewujudkan kebijakan dan visi tersebut, Perseroan sudah memasukkan semuanya ke dalam sistem prosedur operasi (SOP), Quality Objective, Program Produksi Bersih (di PTKS 5R), panduan/ manual dan tata tertib kerja. Semua alat/ sarana tersebut terkoordinasi ke dalam sistem manajemen
management programs, Jamsostek Social Security insurance programs, identiication and risk assessment programs, measurement/monitoring program of the work environment, and accident prevention programs. The occupational health services program is implemented on a fairly broad scope and encompasses more than pre-work health checks, done periodically (once a year) and specialized. The Company also undertakes mentoring and supervision of the work of the employees, including adjustments for employees with certain limitatons, work environment and sanitation maintenance and supervision, and the prevention of common and occupational diseases, irst aid, preventive and proactive activities in the form of education and training for employee health, nutrition guidance and supervision of work, as well as medical and occupational rehabilitation activities.
The accident prevention programs implemented include the following:
1. Control and Supervision for unsafe acts and conditions
2. Procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
3. Investigating accidents/ires
4. Creation and maintenance of OHS signs
5. Examination of ire-ighting equipment (ire extinguishers, hydrants, Firetrucks, sprinklers) 6. Performing simulated emergency response drills 7. Conducting OHS training for all employees
8. Holding the OHS Month which includes: An OHS Competition; emergency response competition; clean toilet and Canteen competitions & OHS seminars

In the area of the environment, the Company has outlined its vision in the long term program, which is, “To be a Leading Green and Environmental Friendly Industry.” To realize this policy and vision, the Company has included them in a standard operating procedure (SOP), Quality Objective, Clean Production Program (in PTKS 5R), manuals/guides and work ethics. All these tools/facilities are coordinated into the environmental
management system ISO14001and OHS management system (SMK3 & OHSAS 18001), which has been implemented in an integrated and consistent manner in PT Krakatau Steel since 1997.
To promote the vision above, the Company adopted the motto “Go Green”. This is partly realized through the “One Man One Tree” campaign, which was conducted by planting mangrove trees on beaches and involving school students, the community, the congregations of mosques in the tree-planting program in the corporate environment.
The Company is also active in the Green Industry assessment that is implemented by the Ministry of Industry, and the Corporate Performance Rating Program (PROPER) by the Ministry of the Environment. The Company’s activities in the framework of environmental management includes the Environmental Management Program, which consists of air pollution control, water pollution control, waste management and hazardous and non hazardous materials management, reforestation, marine conservation, and the concept of zero waste. The Environmental Monitoring Program routinely monitors air emissions, ambient air quality, the level of environmental noise, dust concentration in the plant area, work atmosphere, the quality of waste water, streams and seawater. Appropriate monitoring of environmental quality standards are conducted regularly by internal and independent parties.
The Company also has resource conservation programs such as the eiciency and utilization of natural resources for sustainable energy and its availability. Resource conservation measures include substitution of materials and utilization of exhaust/emissions, utilization of residual waste heat and utilization of CO2 waste into industrial gas.
Some of the awards achieved by PT Krakatu Steel during 2013 are:
1. The Blue Rating in the 2013 Corporate Performance Assessment Rating Program (PROPER) conducted by the Ministry for the Environment.

Kegiatan Perseroan dalam rangka pengelolaan lingkungan meliputi Program Kelola Lingkungan, yang terdiri dari pengendalian pencemaran udara, air, pengelolaan limbah B-3 dan Non B-3, penghijauan, konservasi laut, dan konsep zero waste.
Program Pantau Lingkungan memonitor secara rutin emisi udara cerobong pabrik, kualitas udara ambient, tingkat kebisingan lingkungan, konsentrasi debu area pabrik, iklim kerja, kualitas air buangan, air badan air (stream) dan air laut. Pemantauan sesuai baku mutu lingkungan dilakukan secara berkala oleh internal maupun badan independen.
Perseroan juga memiliki program konservasi sumber daya berupa upaya efisiensi pemanfaatan sumber daya alam dan energi untuk menjaga kelangsungan dan ketersediaannya. Langkah konservasi sumber daya meliputi substitusi bahan dan pemanfaatan gas buang/ emisi, pemanfaatan limbah sisa panas, pemanfaatan limbah CO2 menjadi gas industri.
Beberapa penghargaan yang diraih PT Krakatau Steel selama 2013 adalah:
1. Hasil Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan (Proper) tahun 2013 yang dilakukan oleh Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup PT Krakatau Steel meraih peringkat Biru.

Sebagai produsen baja terkemuka di Indonesia, PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk memiliki tanggung jawab terhadap semua produk yang dibuatnya dan bahwa produknya telah memenuhi standar industri. Perseroan memastikan hampir semua produk Perseroan telah memiliki Sertiikasi Nasional (Sertiikasi Nasional Indonesia/SNI, Biro Klasiikasi Indonesia untuk Produk KI-A, KI-B, HANKAM), maupun Sertiikasi Internasional (JIS, NKK, BV, DNV, Llyod’s Register, Germanischer Lloyd’s, Cor-ten Steel License Agreement dan sebagainya).
Selain standar tersebut, Perseroan juga menerima spesiikasi khusus untuk diproduksi sesuai standar konsumen. Hal ini diterapkan mulai dari pembelian bahan baku utama maupun bahan pembantu produksi, serta selama proses produksi sampai bahan jadi yang siap kirim. Setiap produk memiliki identitas yang jelas serta standar pengepakan yang berlaku. Hal ini dimaksudkan untuk melindungi produk yang dikirim, sekaligus melindungi konsumen, sehingga ada kesesuaian dengan order yang diterima.

As a leading steel producer in Indonesia, PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk has a responsibility for all of the products that it produces and that these products meet industry standard. The Company ensures that almost all of its products have obtained the National Certiication (Indonesian National Certiication/ SNI, Indonesian Classiication Bureau for KI-A, KI-B, DEFENSE products), and International Certiication (JIS, NKK, BV, DNV, Lloyd's Register, Germanischer Lloyd 's, Cor-ten Steel License Agreement, and others). In addition to these standards, the Company also receives special speciications according to consumers’ standards for production. These are applied starting from the purchase of key raw materials and auxiliary production materials, as well as during the production process to inished materials ready to send. Every product has a clear identity and is packed according to applicable packing standards. For claims handling, the Company conducts a three step process consisting of Claims Review, Quality Council, Management Review and issuing a CAR. Consumer claims are handled by the Technical Services Division.
