HISTORY

20/08/2018 A letter from the mayor has been sent to former planning minister Anthony Roberts requesting a meeting to discuss changes to the standard instrument local environmental plan in accordance with the July 24 council resolution 2018 (Appendix 2). 30/11/2018 A follow-up letter from the Mayor has been sent to the former Minister of Planning reiterating the request to hold a meeting to discuss changes to the Local Environmental Plan Standard Instrument (Appendix 3).

ITEM-3 FURTHER REPORT RECLASSIFICATION AND SALE OF BOX HILL COMMUNITY CENTRE, 15Z NELSON ROAD,

BACKGROUND

A strategy has been implemented to fast track the design for the new community center proposed to be located in Nelson Road, Box Hill and it is anticipated that construction will begin before the land deal is finalised. Following the design, planning and construction of the community centre, it will be named "Box Hill and Nelson Community Centre" in accordance with Council's resolution of 28 April 2020.

IMPACTS Financial

Public exhibition of a proposal to rename "Bligh Reserve" to "Anthony Skarratt Reserve". took place from 28 January to 18 February 2021. The architect and consultants engaged to design the facility have been instructed to investigate and incorporate elements that reflect the history of the current hall and the connection to Box Hill and the Nelson Progress Association .

Depending on the nature of the submissions, the Council's formal application will be lodged with the Geographical Names Board. Further details will be available and provided to Council as the facility design progresses and is refined.
