BY-LAWS OF THE QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
The Council may establish rules for the implementation of all or any of the provisions and objects of this by-law. The Council may draft Rules for the implementation of all provisions or any of the provisions of this by-law.
RULES RELATING TO STUDENT MATTERS
Head of School' means a member of the academic staff appointed by the Council and so appointed. The applicant, whose application for registration has been changed, has the right to appeal to the School Director.
GENERAL EXAMINATION RULES
Part I. DEFINITIONS
DETERMINATION AND NOTIFICATION OF ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS
The Registrar may determine the date on which all Central Examination papers required to be marked by examiners must be forwarded to the Examinations Section within the Registrar's Office and the form in which such papers shall be accepted. a) The Registrar shall be responsible for preparing a timetable for all Central Examinations and for publishing such timetable as required by these rules. No change in the schedule of Central Examinations shall be entertained after the distribution of the examination forms of the students referred to in Rule 8(a). a) The registrar will send each student at least two weeks before the beginning of the central examination period an examination form showing all subjects in which the student is registered in the current semester, a statement whether the subject has a central examination Program and the date and time of the exam in those subjects that will be examined centrally.
Part IV. ELIGIBILITY TO UNDERTAKE ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS
A schedule for the central examinations will be posted on the institute's notice boards and to external students no later than three weeks before the start of the relevant semester examination period. A student may be excluded from participation in an examination by the head of the department responsible for the course because he or she has not met all the conditions laid down in the rules applicable to the course for which the student has registered. .
DEFERRED EXAMINATIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
A student who cancels registration in a course on or before the deadline for cancellation of courses without penalty shown in the Institute calendar, will not receive any result for the course. Such requests must be supported by medical or other evidence in the form specified in rule 15. b) The Registrar will forward applications for special consideration to the appropriate Head of School for determination.
CONDUCT OF EXAMINATIONS 16. Responsibility for Conduct of Examinations
The candidate may not leave the examination room before the end of the examination period without the invigilator's permission. A person, whether a candidate or not, must not do anything that would assist any other person taking the examination to cheat or otherwise violate the purposes of the examination.
PLAGIARISM
Based on the results given by the Head of Department, the Registrar will give each Academic Board. Unless the Academic Board responsible for the course has decided that further assessment is desirable before issuing a final result, the student will be given an opportunity to show the Registrar why the result should not be cancelled.
REVIEW OF RESULTS
The Board of Studies, which is responsible for the course in which the student is enrolled, must notify the Registrar of a final result no later than two weeks (or six weeks with the approval of the Board of Studies) after the start of the next semester.
Part XI. GROSS FAILURE
Subject to the overall control of the Director and the Institute Board, the Chief Librarian shall. The Library will be administered in accordance with these Rules by the Law School Librarian under the direction of the Head of the School of Law.·. Any person seeking approval to use the Library in terms of Rule 5(a)(iv) must apply in writing to the Head of the School of Law.
CENTRAL SERVICES
Hood: A black hood with a 50mm long ribbon of school colored silk placed 50mm from the inner edge of the hood. The distinctive colors for the schools are - School of Applied Sciences - Yellow 356 School of the Built Environment - Red 593. A further part of the Institute's further education policy is to allow suitably qualified persons to enroll as non-registered students.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Users should consult the Program Library Catalog for details on the wide range of packages available. Other important activities of ERDU include collecting and publishing educational information (an occasional newsletter is published); the organization of seminars and workshops for staff development; and research into educational developments in line with the work of QIT. The collections therefore reflect the courses taught and the research orientations of the university staff.
STUDENT SERVICES
Located on Level 3 of the Community Building, this campus club provides a pleasant social atmosphere for mixed drinks. Billiards, amusement machines and table tennis facilities are available to Union members in the Games Room on Level 1 of the Community Building from 8.30. Since the association's formation, there has been a gradual increase in the number of clubs and associations.
INSTITUTE FUNCTIONS
The QIT Admissions and Administrative Services Department headed by the Deputy Registrar is responsible for the publications · which provide readily accessible information to the general public. Other publications related to specific functions of the Institute are- - The Queensland Tertiary Courses Booklet. It contains in detail the admission procedures, the courses available, the admission policy of the Institute, the Enrollment Procedures and the requirements necessary to be eligible for admission.
ADMISSION POLICY and ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Except with the consent of the Head of Department, applicants for external B.Bus. Degree or diploma from a recognized university or CAE with an appropriate major in accounting, provided that in the case of a degree, additional work may be required by the Head of the Accounts Department. The third character indicates the subject level in which the subject is taught.
