Effie met with the Club Insurance representative from Domina to review our existing general insurance which has contents cover of $100k, this was deemed too low and after joint review and advice decided it should be increased to $150 k, an offer is being prepared for this increase in the club's contents insurance. Len asked board members for any nominations from interested and suitable club members to fill the casual vacancy created on the board by Bob Brown's resignation. Terry Langdon moved, Robyn Turville seconded that Robert Ayres be invited to join the Board as a Director.
The board felt that both the cost and time-consuming process was not appropriate, the matter has been dropped. Well we are almost at the end of another year and halfway through the 2017/18 Pennant season, a great effort by all members involved in the Tuesday and Saturday Pennant. The club championships are well underway with some great matches so far, congratulations to Colin Lowe for winning the 2 Bowl Handicap event, also well done to Robert Ayres for reaching the final.
The club shirts should be here by now so well done to everyone involved in this club initiative. Thank you to all our members who have helped and contributed to make this season great so far, without our many volunteers we wouldn't have the club we all enjoy. As noted in the last edition of the newsletter, the committee is seeking funding sources for the following initiatives.
If members have any suggestions on funding or projects that should be considered, please let one of your committee know.
Grants Committee
The club championships have started with some good matches so far, players can remember to post your game times on the board outside the club. Keep an eye out for the many events coming up at the club, a new single-entry format for the popular Smorgasbord Games will be trialled on November 19th. Teams will be drawn on the day, hopefully this will help fill the event on the day.
Club Championship games are underway, check the whiteboard outside the clubhouse for upcoming fixtures.

Six bowlers took part in the Inverloch Pairs competition; Troy Pye, Alan Phillips, Beau Simmons, Steve Graham, Gary Broussard and Mark Hoffman competed in three matches with 14 ends on the day and although no money was won the day was enjoyed by all. This is an annual event and it is truly amazing to watch them bowl, with the only information available - the distance to Jack. Colin Lowe and Robert Ayres had a fantastic final game in the 2-Bowl Handicap Championship, Colin was very consistent on the day, congratulations to both bowlers for making the final and well done Colin on the win.
Ron Patterson and Colin Lowe competed in the Club Singles Championship semi final on Tuesday 12th December, the eventual winner was Colin Lowe who will now meet Troy Pye in the final in January. It is important that all tasks are completed when you are on Rink Duty, for those who may not be aware here is a summary. Don't forget to bring in all equipment and Flags at the end of the day. All mugs and other items washed and put away.
We would like to thank Stewie for his dedicated service to the match committee and the running of this committee for a long time, the smørrebrød and most importantly his devoted service in coming out of our match every year for us over the past several years, even when his health was not 100%. Stewie was meticulous in making sure things ran the way they were meant to run for the benefit of our club, we will miss Stewie around the club because he was just a regular, regular, nice guy. I hope you are doing well; Please note a highlighted change below to Division 6 Section 5 of the BV Saturday Pennant which directly affects your club, unfortunately Bayswater 4 have had to withdraw this page due to a lack of numbers creating a WALKOVER in this section.
Any teams from here that would play this team would be credited with a win and 18 points / 15 shots. Bowls Australia has a great newsletter available to all members, to subscribe please go to this page and follow the prompts.
