Job Description
Job Title: Pro Vice-Chancellor Reports To: Vice-Chancellor
Job Overview: Serving as the second highest officer in the university and fulfilling responsibilities of the position as outlined in the Private University Act 2010, the Pro Vice-Chancellor will exercise leadership over academic and administrative functions as appropriate, and contribute to the overall growth of the university in terms of teaching excellence, research output and impact, enrollment, and global prominence.
Responsibilities and Duties
Essential:
Work closely with the Vice-Chancellor to execute the mission of the university
Champion excellence and quality throughout the university
Exercise leadership in key areas of academics and administration as assigned by the Vice- Chancellor and approved in the organizational chart
Participate actively in supporting and empowering the various academic and administrative leaders in the university and contribute to collegiality
Promote professionalism and champion change supporting the university’s mission
Represent the university well in various settings and public speaking engagements
Engage with key stakeholders, including the UGC, alumni, recruiters, donors, and parents, to advance the mission of the university
Represent the university and step-in for the Vice-Chancellor when appropriate
Office of the Board of Trustees
Preferred (at least one of the following):
Spearhead local fundraising
Establish at least one major funded research program
Attract major international gift
Establish significant long-term collaboration with a major partner
Qualifications
Successful candidates will be outstanding academic visionaries with solid track records as scholars or administrators. They should meet the minimum qualifications as specified in the Private University Act:
PhD degree and teaching experience at any recognized university for a minimum of ten years
Research or administrative work experience for a period of fifteen years
Candidates should possess excellent leadership skills, strong interpersonal capabilities, and be strategic thinkers. Individuals should be result-oriented and leverage creativity to generate robust solutions to complex problems.
