Regional
autonomy
ISvividly

an
expactation to spur Original Region Income with proportional
distribution between region and central. Asahan is a district with
largest third population total in North Sumatera, is Very profitable
over presence of manufacture industry in great scale and to bring
Asahan toward industrial era. And even from year to year
industrial
sector
is able to become
main driving wheel for
regional
economy
by
contributing
regional
economic
total
about 40%. Not less than 23 great industries operate in Asahan.
One of them is PT. Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum),
beginning from an agreement signed by representative of Republic
of Indonesia with Japan Investor.
The agreement signaled the industrialization in a great
capacity
illdistrict
of Asahan, North
Sumatera, including
the
establishment of
first aluminium
melting in Indonesia,
PT Inalum
is
just a
part of
Asahan
projects
that
also
developed Hydropower in Sigura - gura and ladders in Asahan
river's flow.
Japan demands 2,5 million pure aluminium annually fo
their domestic industry. The need is filled by PT Inalum about 20%
or 400 thousand tons.

While the raw material is imported, however contribution of
PT Inalum against Regional Budget is very significant.
It
is evident
in 2001, PT Inalum was able to give annual contribution to region
about Rp 4,7 billion. The value was parallel to 30% of regional pure
income realization.
