Abstract
This research investigated two speeches of Angelina Jolie and William Hague concerning the sexual violence in the warzone. It aimed to discover the comparison of the applied ideational meaning between the two speeches, the belief of the speakers represented in the speeches, and its relation to gender theories through the analysis of transitivity, lexis, complex clause, and nominal group. The descriptive qualitative study, total sampling technique and content analysis were applied to examine the speeches which are in form of transcripts. This research identified some general results. From the analysis of the used lexicogrammar, it was revealed that Angelina Jolie and William Hague explored similar way in delivering the speeches. They chose to deliver the speeches in easy way while using mental deed to convince the audiences. The dissimilarities laid on the details elaborated by the speakers, Angelina Jolie chose to use simple way while William Hague used more complex way by giving the details in his speech. Moreover, by relating the lexicogrammar analysis to the gender theories, it was discovered that man and woman could have similar way in persuading the audiences to do real actions in preventing sexual violence in the warzone by showing their emotional feelings.
