ABSTRAK
Indonesia sebagai negara agraria memiliki lahan pertanian dan perkebunan mencapai 23,47 juta ha. Perkebunan merupakan subsektor yang berperan penting dalam perekonomian nasional. Pembangunan perkebunan harus mampu memecahkan masalah-masalah yang dihadapi perkebunan selain mampu menjawab tantangan-tantangan globalisasi. Permasalahan tersebut di antaranya masih rendahnya produktivitas komoditas perkebunan. Upaya untuk meningkatkan produktivitas melalui penekanan pada work engagement. Work engagement dapat disebabkan oleh rendahnya
work-family conflict dan kepribadian dari karyawan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk
mengetahui pengaruh work-family conflict dan kepribadian big 5 terhadap work
engagement. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah Karyawan Pimpinan PT.
Perkebunan Nusantara III yang telah menikah sebanyak 706 orang. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan skala work-family conflict, big five inventory dan skala work
engagement. Analisis regresi berganda menunjukkan bahwa work-family conflict dan
kepribadian big 5 berpengaruh terhadap work engagement (R = 0.582, R2 = 0.339, F = 5.989, p<0.05). Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah memberikan kontribusi kepada manajemen perusahaan untuk menciptakan suasana manajemen partisipatif melalui peningkatan dukungan sosial dan membangun teamwork guna mempertahankan work
engagement yang tinggi.

ABSTRACT
Indonesia as an agricultural country, land and plantation estates reached 23.47 million ha. Plantation is a sub-sector that plays an important role in the national economy. Development of plantation should be able to solve its problems and able to answer the challenges of globalization. One of the problems is low productivity of plantation commodities. Improving of productivity can be done by increasing of employee work engagement. Work engagement can be caused work-family conflict and personality of employees. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of work-family conflict and big 5 personality to work engagement. The participants in this study were 706 employees of PTPN III and have been married. Data was collected using scale of work-family conflict, big five inventory and scale of work engagement. Statistical analysis were using multiple regression analysis. The result showed that work-family conflict
and big 5 personality were influenced to the work engagement (R = 0.582, R2 = 0.339, F
= 5.989, p<0.05). The implication of this study is to contribute to the management to create an atmosphere of participative management, through increasing social support and build teamwork in order to maintain a higher work engagement.
