PENGARUH KONSENTRASI EKSTRAK ETANOL BUNGA BROKOLI (Brassica oleraceaL.) TERHADAP NILAI SUN PROTECTION FACTOR
KRIM TABIR SURYA KOMBINASI AVOBENZONE DAN OKTIL METOKSISINAMAT SECARA IN VITRO
ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Sediaan tabir surya adalah sediaan kosmetik yang digunakan pada permukaan kulit yang bekerja antara lain dengan menyerap, menghamburkan, atau memantulkan sinar ultraviolet. Bunga brokoli mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang dapat menyerap sinar UV dan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi.
Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui formulasi ekstrak etanol bunga brokoli, mengetahui stabilitas fisik, serta mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi ekstrak etanol bunga brokoli terhadap nilai sun protection factor (SPF) krim tabir surya kombinasi avobenzone dan oktil metoksisinamat secara in vitro.
Metode: Ekstraksi bunga brokoli dilakukan dengan cara maserasi menggunakan penyari etanol 70%, selanjutnya diuapkan menjadi ekstrak kental. Ekstrak etanol bunga brokoli diformulasikan dengan variasi konsentrasi (5, 7,5, 10 dan 12,5%), sedangkan blanko tidak ditambahkan ekstrak etanol bunga brokoli dalam krim kombinasi avobenzone dan oktil metoksisinamat. Penentuan nilai SPF secara in vitro dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV dan perhitungan menurut metode Mansur. Uji kestabilan fisik dilakukan dengan penyimpanan pada suhu kamar selama 3 bulan, yaitu uji organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, tipe emulsi dan uji iritasi.
Hasil: Nilai sun protection factor (SPF) yang diperoleh dari krim tabir surya dengan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol bunga brokoli 5; 7,5; 10 dan 12,5% secara berurutan adalah 14,89; 18,60; 21,91; 23,97 dan 13,98 (blanko). Hasil pengujian stabilitas sediaan krim menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada terjadi perubahan bentuk, warna dan bau. Sediaan krim yang dihasilkan homogen, sediaan krim setelah dibuat mempunyai rentang pH 5,5-5,9 dan setelah penyimpanan 12 minggu mempunyai rentang pH 4,6-5,3, memiliki tipe emulsi m/a dan hasil uji iritasi menunjukkan tidak terjadi iritasi pada kulit.
Kesimpulan: Ekstrak etanol bunga brokoli dapat meningkatkan nilai SPF krim tabir surya kombinasi avobenzone dan oktil metoksisinamat serta stabilitas fisik sediaan krim tabir surya yang baik.

THE EFFECT OF BROCCOLI FLOWERS (Brassica oleracea L.) ETHANOL EXTRACT CONCENTRATIONS ON SUN PROTECTION
FACTOR VALUE OF SUNSCREEN CREAM IN COMBINATION AVOBENZONE AND OCTYL METHOXYCINNAMATE BY IN VITRO
ABSTRACT
Background: Sunscreen is a cosmetic preparation, that is used on the surface of skin that works by absorbing, scattering or reflecting UV light. Broccoli flowers contain flavonoids which can absorb UV rays and have a high antioxidant activity. Purpose: To determine the formulation of ethanol extract of broccoli flowers, physical stability, the effect of ethanol extract concentration of broccoli flowers (Brassica oleracea L.) on sun protection factor (SPF) value of avobenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate combination sunscreen in vitro.
Method: Broccoli flowers extraction was done by maceration using ethanol 70%, then evaporated into thick extract. Ethanol extract of broccoli flowers was formulated with various concentrations (5%, 7.5%, 10% and 12.5%) while the blank was not contain the ethanol extract of broccoli flowers. Determination of sun protection factor (SPF) value in vitro by using UV spectrophotometer and calculation based on Mansur method. Physical stability test was done by storage at room temperature for 3 months, that is organoleptic test, pH, homogenity, the type of emulsion and irritation test.
Result: Obtained sun protection factor (SPF) value from broccoli flowers ethanol extract sunscreen in concentration 5; 7.5; 10 and 12.5% respectively were 14.89; 18.60; 21.91; 23.97 and 13.98 (blank). The result of cream stability test showed no change on form, colour and smell. The cream was on the pH range was 5.5-5.9 and after 12 weeks of storage pH range was 4.6-5.3. The type of emulsion was o/w and the irritation test showed there was no irritation on the skin.
Conclusion: Broccoli flowers ethanol extract could increase the SPF value of sunscreen combination of avobenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate and it showed good physical stability.
