Tourism

After Bali bomb that killed 202 lives, Indonesia tourism declined rapidly. This can be seen from hotel lodging rate in 2003 (2.9 million guests), meaning that its growth rate declined 13.9% compared to

the previous year. Safety is a very sensitive factor of tourism, lately. During 2001-2004, hotel lodging rate fluctuated with average growth of 0.9% per year. Compared to hotel, non-hotel growth of

foreign tourist lodging rate is minus 2.3%. By country of origin and residence, Singapore ranks 1st in terms of sending her tourists to Indonesia, with yearly average of 1.5 million people, followed by

Japan and Malaysia. By airport, as the country first gate, Soekarno Hatta ranks 1st as the busiest airport.
