 Ph.D. degree in forestry remote sensing was obtained from the Graduate School of Science and Technology, Niigata University, Japan in 1996.

 Master of agriculture (M.Agr) degree in forestry remote sensing was obtained from the Niigata University in 1993.

 Research student at the Faculty of Agriculture, Niigata University, Japan, from October 1990 to March 1991 and completed the research program on a system of forest inventory for tropical forest.

 Diploma (Sarjana) degree in Forest Management was obained from the Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University in 1985
