Title:

Fix Table 2 BBOX definition

Source:

Work item code:

Category:

D (Editorial modification)

Reason for

change:

*

Bounding boxes are defined in a normative reference (06-121r3:2009, 10.2.3) to be of arbitrary dimensionality. The semantics of selection are defined in 7.8.3.2 to be that resources are not-disjoint with the bounding box. Table 2 refers to a non-existent document (presumably intending 06-121r3:2009), arbitrarily and inconsistently restricts a BBOX to a "rectangle", and uses inconsistent intersection

language.

Summary of

change:

*

(2)

"A bounding rectangle, encoded as specified in OGC 06-131r3, indicating that all resources which intersect that BBOX shall be retrieved from some data store."

"A bounding box, encoded as specified in OGC 06-121r3:2009

10.2.3, indicating that all resources not disjoint with that BBOX shall be retrieved from some data store."

Consequences if

not approved:

Risk that some implementers might restrict BBOX to two dimensions or be confused about the selection semantics.

Clauses affected:

*
