HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION STATUS REPORT Employee Activities

The Employee Activities have been scheduled for the upcoming year. These activities include the barbeques, Thanksgiving Luncheon, Halloween Party, Holiday Gathering and Monthly Workshops. By scheduling ahead of time and

placing a calendar in front of the employees we are able to select from various dining areas and allow our employees the opportunity to know in advance the dates. This will encourage better attendance.

An extensive evaluation and search was conducted between August and December of 1989. Seven different money management firms were interviewed in the process.

The competition consisted of locai banking firms, insurance companies, and brokerage services.

CNA, the current trustee, was invited to participate but declined. Asset allocation and fund transfers will be made after the May 1, 1990 check distribution.

Group Accidental. - Chubb Insurance Group

Michael Hecht of Donchin-Hecht &·Company conducted open enrollment meetings on March 10, 1990 with the employees for the voluntary group accidental coverage available through the Chubb Insurance Group.

The coverage had previously been with The Kemper. Our coverages will remain at the same level with the premiums being lowered an average of 5%.

Actuarial Investigation

Currently an investigation of actuarial firms is being conducted by Human Resources. The final candidates are Mccready & Keene and

Mercer-Meidinger-Hanses. A decision should be reached by May 1, 1990.

General Liability Insurance

Workshops covering the General Liability insurance were conducted in February at the Mo-Ark Mid Winter Conference and the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District

Mid-Winter Conventions. Over 250 club members were provided information about the General Liability program. There has been increaed awareness about the club's potential to legal actions as a result of their fund raising activities.

The response from these sessions has been very favorable.

Employee Health Insurance

The premium increase effective May 1, 1990 received from Lincoln National stands at 14% for the PPO coverage and 12% for the HMO coverage. The ADCI dental plan will have a 6% increase while the indeminity dental will not experience an increase. This is well below industry standards. Due to this favorable rate information Lincoln National will remain the Kiwanis International carrier for the upcoming plan year.

Employee Handbook

The Employee Handbook will be released to each employee on May 1, 1990. This handbook will include information regarding that employee's benefits as well as group policies provided by Kiwanis International and the newly revised personnel policies.

A draft of the personnel policies was issued in February to all employees and supervisors. The employees and supervisors have attended regularly scheduled weekly meetings to discuss and explain the new policies over the last 2

months.

OFFICE SERVICES

TRANSIENT VOLTAGE SURGE PROTECTOR

Thi.s equipment has generated benefits since it was installed. We had two electrical storms and no down-time was experienced, where some area businesses were without power for short periods of time or even running on emergency

generators.

ISOLATED GROUND RECEPTACLES

Isolated ground receptacles were installed in all work areas to eliminate over loads. This also safeguards computers from other equipment "surges and line noise", and provides a total "ground system" to help control neutral current

loads.

SURGE PROTECTION AT UNITS

These will safeguard investment of electrical equipment and lower maintenance cost, as well as meet manufacturers warranty requirements. In addition they will absorb harmful surges that occur, safeguard against line noises and

overload at equipment - not - at control breakerso Finally, units provide multiple outlets in each area not to exceed 15 amps.

SOLAR MASTER WINDOW FILM

Since the installation of the film we have noticed a change in the "hot spot problems" in certain areas of the building which is supported by personal

Comments. The true test will be during the cooling season and shoul~ show some energy savings.

SEMI-ANNUAL BILLING MAILING

Off ice Services completed the mailing _of Semi-Annual billings to all clubs, except European clubs on March 9, which is approximately twelve days earlier than previous mailings. The European mailing was completed and mailed on March

16th. This was accomplished by the cooperation and assistance of everyone in Off ice Services.
