INTRODUCTION
Background
During the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been many changes in the world of education. Of course, teachers are developing alternative methods of assessing learning in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Research Questions
Based on that, this research seeks to find out about the implementation of English learning assessment in the COVID-19 pandemic era at MTsN Parepare. The purpose of this research is to evaluate techniques for evaluating English learning in light of a range of evaluation issues related to COVID-19 learning, various learning evaluation models used during the COVID-19 pandemic, and barriers in the implementation of alternative educational evaluations.
Objective of the Research
In this case, what is evaluated are the characteristics of the student using a specific measure. Based on figure 4.3 which is evidence of the collection of assignment books or exercises by students in the school.

Some Pertinent Ideas
For example, testing can be expensive.19 If a standardized test is used, the cost per copy must be taken into account, as well as the reusability of the test booklets. It depends on the type of decisions one wants to make in light of the test results.
Variable and Operational Definition
Evaluation of learning and learning is a process of determining the value of learning and learning done by reviewing assessment activities and/or measuring learning and learning. Teaching students is the process of interacting students with instructors and learning resources in a learning environment. Learning is the help provided by educators in the acquisition of knowledge and knowledge, the mastery of skills and habits, and the formation of students' attitudes and beliefs.
Conceptual Framework
The data collection in this study was carried out by interviewing one of the teachers of English subjects and then conducting face-to-face interviews with the students while complying with health protocols. During the previous semester, one month teachers can complete two chapters of the material from the three chapters of the existing material. Learning evaluation is a process to determine the services, values or benefits of the program, the outcomes and the learning process.
However, the current state of the learning system in schools due to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus cannot be implemented directly, but through the use of online learning. Based on the results of the interview and the statement above, it was found that the English teacher always told the student or the class representative to collect the assessment results and immediately graded and returned them. Based on the results of the interview and the statement above, it can be seen that the form of assessment of English teachers is using fillers and essays or descriptions, teachers ask questions to students through the WA group.
Cognitive assessment or assessment measures the understanding of the extent of student knowledge mastery during learning during the present.
RESEARCH METHOD
Research Design
Creswell Qualitative research is "descriptive in the sense that the researcher is interested in the process, meaning, and understanding gained through words or images."29 The descriptive form of analysis used in this research is the case study approach. Denzin and lincoln suggest that the case method is a unique research method and the study of the unique individual experience of dank must represent a. Denzin and Lincoln show that the case method is a unique research method and the analysis of a unique personal experience is a case study.30.
Case studies, according to Riyanto i Zuriah, are "everything essential in the history or development of a case that tries to understand the life cycle or part of an individual unit" (individual, family, group, the social institution of a society). 31 Case studies are a better technique, according to Wu, "when the subject of an investigative study is how or why, when researchers have minimal likelihood of influencing the events to be researched, and when the focus of the research is on contemporary events (present) in a real environment."32 Based on several understandings, it can explain that case study methods use to examine things that make sense in the current context, carefully and in detail. Scientists do not have the ability to control existing phenomena, so any data found is a fact that occurs in the field. As Danial said, this study does not make generalizations because the conclusions drawn are the particularities of the results of a particular individual study of its characteristics as a whole.
Furthermore, the type of data required in this study is used as participants (followers and/or members) of researchers, a group of objects used as data sources in the research, which can be people, objects, documents, etc.

Technique of Collecting Data
According to Sugiyono, the researcher learns about behavior and the meaning associated with it by observing it. Observation activities in data collection activities take objects relevant to the research scope, such as facilities and infrastructure, teaching and learning activities. The question asked in this type of interview is largely dependent on the spontaneity of the interviewer in asking questions of the interviewee.
Interviewer-interviewee interaction is casual and reasonable, and questions and answers flow like normal everyday conversation. This type of interview requires the interviewer to outline the outline of the interview and the subject matter in the interview, but questions should not be asked sequentially. The interview instructions contain detailed instructions on the process and content of the interview to keep the planned points fully covered.
Interviews and interrogations were conducted according to the respondent's condition during the actual interview contact.
Technique of Data Analysis
The rest of the educators only give directions to students to read for themselves the material that the educator thinks they can easily understand. After returning to school, students must return home and replace online or BDR when heading to the opening of the even semester. The collection of tasks gets a time delay of 1 or 2 days after the delivery of the task;.
In one day of the meeting, there is 1 to 2 times the learning of one of the subjects given there must be an element of daily activity. So students have to send assignments to friends, and some write all the assignments left behind during this pandemic in the books and then collect them from the school before the distribution of the report card. But after two weeks of online learning process runs, the focus of learning only two learning pieces, for example sub-theme 4 with English or one of the materials, should be an element of daily activities.
Parents' lack of understanding of the material provided by the teacher so that they cannot teach their child to complete the material and tasks given;. I was very hindered because I don't have a personal Smartphone, sometimes to do the task of having to go from home to a good friend's house, the teacher told us who don't have a Smartphone to school to go to, but the distance from home to school is far away and do not have a private vehicle".45 One of the students who have become the main obstacle in the online learning process is today, where Smartphone is an essential tool is what is used for online learning. 34;Illustrated about the attitude of students. when I entered the learning, by the time I started performing and entering the WA group at 07:30, it can already be seen who really disciplined is and discipline is lacking, there are also students who usually go in and out of the group, even sometimes there are students who enroll at the end of the learning, just absent.
Based on the results of interviews to assess the students' affective area, teachers always monitor during the learning process from the beginning to the end of learning, which students are drawn, who are really active in learning until the end, and where students who are only absent leave then the class group regardless of learning or task. Discussion
However, students cannot monitor online learning because their parents do not have mobile phones. In addition, some parents do not understand that their children are still in the process of online learning. The reason teachers choose this assessment technique is that it is easier to assess each student's level of understanding during the learning process, even in the current COVID-19 pandemic.
If there is a delay in the collection of assignments, the teacher was told to come directly to see him, and on that day he was also given a score. 34;I always give tasks or replays in the form of fillers and essays or descriptions during online studies at home. 34;When the task or replay is finished, the mother usually asks the class leader in the WA group to collect a book of answers and then down to the school to get a grade, sometimes we go to.
However, when conducting daily evaluation, teachers do not have time to give daily exams to students due to the COVID-19 period.
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
Conclusion
And the evaluation tool uses evaluation techniques in the form of testing and non-testing techniques, which are tailored to the needs of each learning objective to be achieved. Evaluation techniques carried out by English teachers are essay tests or descriptions of no other techniques and WhatsApp groups are used. Students are given time by being photographed and then sent to their respective class groups, and the answers are written in their training books.
Books are collected by the class teacher or brought to school in person to be graded directly.
