This thesis entitled "Analysis Student's Writing Ability in Summarizing Narrative Text in Grade Eleven by Ma Wahid Hasyim Balung Jember" was compiled to fulfill one of the requirements for this undergraduate degree in English Language Teaching UIN KH Achmad Siddiq Jember. Mustika Cintya Afnina Wafi, 2023: Analyzing Student's Writing Ability in Summarizing Narrative Text in Grade Eleven by Ma Wahid Hasyim Balung Jember. The data of this research was the student's worksheet of written summary of the narrative text.

Research Focus

Research Objectives

For other researchers, the result can be used as a reference for the next research on summarizing narrative text in the student's writing ability. The result of this research can remind the lectures to guide the students to improve their ability to write summary. For the researcher, this research can add new insight, knowledge and experience to doing a research.

Definition of Key Term 1. Analysis

The instruments included pre-test and post-test, rubric, learning log, survey, a checklist to measure. Narrative Text

The materials analyzed can be textbooks, newspapers, web pages, speeches, television programs, commercials, musical compositions, or a multitude of other types of documents.29 In this study, the researcher analyzed the student's worksheet summarizing narrative text under the title "Beauty and the Beast" and " The Ant and the Grasshopper" at MA Wahid Hasyim Balung Jember based on Brown's theory.

Data and Source of Data

According to Margono, the type of qualitative research aims to systematically and accurately provide the facts and nature of a certain research subject.27 Moreover, Arikunto emphasized that "qualitative research is research that seeks to understand a phenomenon by focusing on the total view rather than breaking it down into variables. The goal of qualitative research is a holistic view and depth of understanding rather than a numerical analysis of data. 28. The primary source of data in this research was the student writing worksheet summarizing the narrative text assessment.

Technique of Data Collection

Then the researcher asks the students to summarize in their own words based on the story text under the title "Beauty and the Beast" and.

Technique of Data Analysis

The general coding of the data in this research is as follows: SN1 = student number (1) and the initial of the student's name. The researcher also underlined the sentences that indicate the aspect of the writing with a different color. In this step, the researcher repeated a statement or sentence that indicated an aspect of the writing obtained from the students' worksheets.

Validity of Data

This type of triangulation is often used by the researcher who used library research. The investigators of this research were the researcher and English lecture expert in writing studies. The researcher met and discussed with one of the English lecturers as a validator of this research.

The final step was to take the minimal differences between the data between researcher and validators to validate the data in this study. In the findings, the researcher described the process of collecting data and presented the results of the data.

However, the content of the student's worksheet was true because it was relevant to the assigned topic. Meanwhile, the organization of the ideas in the above paragraph was true because it consisted of a complete generic structure of the narrative text itself.

Then in the second paragraph, especially in the first sentence, he wrote the word "The" which should have changed to. In the second paragraph, especially the third sentence, the word "beast" should be changed to "beast". In the first paragraph, especially in the third sentence, the word "supplies" should be changed to "supplies".

In the fourth paragraph, especially in the first sentence, the word "he" should change to "he". Spelling errors in the third paragraph, especially in the fourth sentence, the word "sumer" should be changed to "summer". In the fourth paragraph, especially in the first sentence, the word "grasshopper" should be changed to "grasshopper".

Capitalization was found in the first paragraph, especially in the third sentence, the word "it" should change to. In the third and fifth sentences of the early sentence, the word "the" should be changed to "the". Spelling errors in the third paragraph, especially in the second sentence, the word "could" should change to.

Capitalization error in the third paragraph, especially in the fifth sentence, word "He" should be changed to "him". In the fourth paragraph, especially in the first sentence, the word "season" should change to "season". In the fifth paragraph, especially in the first sentence, the word "presented" should change it to false.

Research Discussion

There were no errors in the content aspect, they were able to compose a summary of narrative text relevant to the assigned topic. Regarding organization of ideas, most of the students composed summary narrative text with complete organization of ideas which were title, orientation, complication and resolution. For the result, the student's ability to summarize narrative text in MA Wahid Hasyim Balung Jember was at a good level.

Types of narrative text are represented in the eleventh grade student worksheets by MA Wahid Hasyim Balung Jember eleventh grade by MA Wahid Hasyim Balung Jember. In this section, the researcher discussed that two types of narrative text were represented in the student's worksheet. The find showed that there were 15 student worksheets that summarized narrative text types of fairy tales under the title "Beauty and the Beast".

The finding showed that there were eleven student worksheets that summarized narrative text types under the title “The Ant and the.” Students' ability to summarize narrative texts in the eleventh grade of MA Wahid Hasyim Balung Jember. In this study, the researcher had analyzed the student's worksheet in writing, summarizing the narrative text from five aspects of writing.

There were no content errors, they were able to compose narrative summary text related to the given topic. In organizing ideas, most of them compose narrative summary text with complete organization of ideas, they were title, orientation, complication and resolution. Based on the analysis result, the fairy tale was the most dominant type of narrative text represented.

SUGGESTION

For fairy tale type there was under the title "Beauty and The Beast", and for fable type there was under the title "The Ant and The Grasshopper".
