The aim of this research is to determine whether the use of a PRE-READING strategy can have an impact on students. In this research, the researcher conducted a pre-test to find out how far the students' reading comprehension is and a post-test to find out the students' reading comprehension score after giving the READING PREDICTION GUIDES strategy. It can be concluded that teaching in the experimental class using the anticipatory reading strategy gave better results in teaching reading comprehension skills. The result of t-test data analysis is.

Before reading, the anticipatory guide reviews emails and indicates whether they agree or disagree with each of the statements. 25 Yelmi Panggabean, Learning Reading Comprehension Report Text by Combining Anticipatory Guide and Combining Those Facts-Strategy for High School Students, p, 4. Increasing the Chances of Success for All Students: Using and Adapting Anticipatory Guides to High School Students.

Based on explanation above, anticipatory guide strategy is typically a form that contains a list of statements related to the topic presented in a section of the text. There is a procedure that the teachers should do the Anticipatory guide strategy to identify in the classroom. Students may already know about the topic to ensure they are able to respond to items on an anticipatory guide.

29 Yelmi Panggabean, Teaching Reading Comprehension of Report Text by Combining Pre-Guide and Fact-Checking Strategies for Middle School Student, pg, 4. The teacher does the pre-guide strategy procedure above to practice in class to know how to do this strategy successfully. 31 Yelmi Panggabean, Teaching Reading Comprehension of Report Text by Combining Pre-Guide and Fact Check Strategies for High School Student, p, 5.

Furthermore, anticipatory guide strategy helps the students to activate their background knowledge and experience, and then think about the ideas they will read. In short, it can be said that the application of anticipatory guide strategy can help the students to activate their background knowledge and experience and think about the ideas they will read. Furthermore, by using anticipatory guide strategy, the students become familiar and comfortable with a topic before reading unfamiliar text.32.

It is the eighth of teaching reading comprehension using the pre-instructional strategy based on Forget. The teacher will display or copy the advance guide on a screen or by overhead projector or LCD. In this research, if the pre-instructional reading strategy can be used correctly in teaching reading comprehension, so students' reading comprehension will get a good result.

Based on the image above, it can be described whether anticipatory reading can be used appropriately in teaching reading comprehension so that students' reading comprehension achieves a good or high result.

Guides Strategy and the second class as the control class that did not receive the special treatment. According to Kumar Singh, "population or universe means the whole mass of observation, which is the parent group from which a sample is to be formed"35. This means that the population is subject to everything that will be assumed in this research.

Wallen explains that "a population, in other words, is a group of interest to the researcher, a group to which the researcher wishes to generalize the results of the study."36. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year. In this research, the research sample uses one class in eight classes of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year in class VIII-5, which consists of 38 students.

Gary Anderson defined the sample as a "subset of the population".37 This means that the sample is the part of the population that represents the population to be researched. In this research, the author uses purposive cluster sampling as a method of sample selection. Purposive group sampling is the selection of a sample with a particular opinion or reason that can yield the most data.

The reason is based on the grade of pre-survey data for students. The independent variable of this research is Anticipatory Reading Guide Strategy, which is defined as an instructional strategy where the teacher models the desired learning strategy or task, then gradually shifts the responsibility to the students. Furthermore, based on the above explanation, in this research the writer will use the Predictive Reading Guides Strategy to conduct a treatment for the tenth grade students of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year.

Dependent variables are variables that depend on the independent variable: they are the outcomes or results of the influence of the independent variable. Dependent variable in this research is reading comprehension ability which includes content, main idea and supporting idea.

Data Collection Technique

  • Test
  • Documentation
  • Instrument Blueprint
  • Instrument Calibration

The post-test will be administered at the last meeting after the treatments to find out if the treatments have made any contribution to the students' achievement in the classroom or not. After that, the students write something on the paper, before they say something about what they have read, they have to turn to each other. Documentation is a method of collecting data in the form of articles, letters, memos, agendas, previous studies and newspaper articles, in general. 39.

The writer uses the documentation method to get detailed information about the condition of teachers and official employees, the amount of students and the Structure Organization of SMP N 1 Pekalongan East Lampung. The writer uses the Pre-test before the treatment as a control instrument and the post-treatment as an experimental instrument. The instrument used in the test in this research included the pre-test and post-test for the text score of reading ability.

After getting the data from the student, the author compared the scores to measure if there is any significant influence between the use of Anticipatory Reading Guides strategy on the students' reading comprehension ability. In this technique, the data is taken from the observation list about everything that happened during the teaching-learning process that deals with the teacher's treatment of the students, which method the teacher uses and how the process worked. Instrument calibration is the scale of measurement that will be used to determine the standard that will be used.

The researcher uses Pre-test and Post-test instruments for the experimental class and the control class, to know whether the test has a good quality or not, the author should know the validity of the test. The author took instrument from the books so the instrument was assumed to be valid and reliable. According to the expert, reliable is essentially a synonym for consistency and reliability over time, across instruments and across groups of respondents.42.

The writer can conclude that the instrument that is taken from the books must be valid and reliable because the instrument must be examined by its validity and reliability.

Frequency distribution as a post-test result (Experimental Class) of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year 2017/2018. To know the critical value of the T-test (T-. observation). The researcher first calculated the df (degree of freedom). There is a significant impact on the use of Predictive Reading Guides Strategy towards Reading Comprehension Ability of students in the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year 2017/2018.

There is no significant impact on the use of Predictive Reading Guides Strategy on the Reading Comprehension Ability of students in the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year 2017/2018. It means that there is a positive and significant influence on the use of narrative text towards the reading comprehension ability of students in the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year 2017/2018. Reading comprehension ability than other method especially for the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year 2017/2018.

Furthermore, the result of this research confirmed the impact of Anticipatory Reading Instruction Strategy on students' reading. This research also clarified that the theory of the influence of the Strategy of Using Predictive Reading Guides on Students' Reading Comprehension Ability in the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Pekalongan in the academic year 2017/2018. It is observed from the pre-test and post-test result. Tenth grade students of SMP N 1 Pekalongan, especially grade VIII.5.

By using Anticipatory Reading Guides as a strategy, students learn new experience in studying English. In short, there is a positive and significant impact on students' use of Anticipatory Reading Guides as a strategy. It can affect students' reading comprehension ability through the applied strategy of Predictive Reading Guides.

By using Anticipatory Reading Guides strategy, the students will be interested so that the student is more active in the learning process.
