Lawrence Hall, Kentucky State FFA president, and David Boyne examined the aluminum model with Charles Walte of Reynolds Metals Company in Louisville, Kentucky. FAIR,
Fair officers kept a close eye on all activities and exhibits at the Guilford-Madison FFA Fair. The greased pole climb, open to anyone who thought the five-dollar certificate at the top of the smooth 25-foot pole was worth the fight, provided much entertainment for climbers and spectators alike. The senior class at Guilford High School won first prize with this float that they entered in the parade.
Led by police and color bearers, the parade included two high school bands, several fire departments, American Legion posts, GirlScouts, BoyScouts, teamsofoxen, homemade. Asquare dance at the high school marked the end of the fair for Guilford-Madison FFA members and their dates. The fair closed at 5:00 sharp so the cleanup gang could get everything away in time for the big dance as part of the fair, but with a separate entrance, at the Guilford High School auditorium.
The Future Farmers in the Guilford-Madison chapter are now making plans to give the people an even better fair this year.

With the 1954 harvests and the transfer of very heavy stockpiles, the total supply of grain and oilseeds will reach an all-time high. With average yields, a storage of an estimated 300 to 500 million bushels must be found. If yields exceed average, the problem of finding storage space will be even greater. Areas likely to come under pressure are the CornBel and the Northern and Southern Great Plains. need to be handled efficiently and marketed in an orderly manner, and whatnot. More importantly for many farmers, crops cannot be stored sufficiently to qualify for price support loans.
While both the government and industry are doing their best to address the situation, the primary responsibility for storage lies with each individual farmer. A bill was recently issued that allows a full write-off of the tax on the costs of building warehouses on a farm over a period of five years. the farmer does not need to apply for any permit or permission - only. submits a statement on his income tax return. If that weren't enough of an incentive to encourage building storage on the farm, the CommodityCredit Corporation will lend up to SO percent of the cost of building a storage facility.
A recent USDA study shows that a group of wheat growers averaged 15 to 30 cents more per bushel over a 15-year period. According to one of the big manufacturers of farm storage containers, the Butler Manufacturing Company, a farmer can install 4,000 bushel storage and drying equipment – in this case their recently introduced.

Most future farmers recognize Allis-Chalmers as one of the country's leading tractor and implement producers, but not many realize that farm machinery is only part of the company's operation.
Roberts was recognized as one of the prime movers in pulling the tractor division from virtually nowhere to third in the field. 34;Get a card from the breed association and learn to judge dairy cattle," advises Jack, "so you can keep a picture of the ideal type in mind when you select, fit and show your animals." 34;If don't select for a mature class, select an animal that was born close to the base - an older animal will usually have an advantage over younger ones in the same class."
When comparing each individual to the ideal type, Jack warns, be sure to consider the animal's general appearance, milk character, body capacity and milk system. The cover makes the skin soft and pliable, loosens old, coarse hair, protects the animal from flies and keeps the coat clean. The condition of the animal's skin and hair determines the number of baths Jack gives it.
Since too frequent washing can remove some of the natural skin oils, Jack washes the animal as few times as possible.

Jack also loosens and combs the tail just before entering the ring, so that it remains as fluffy as possible. When commanded to stop, Jack always tries to choose a spot where the animal's front legs are slightly higher than the hind ones. He then brings his animal to the spot and starts posing as quickly as possible. Jack attributes much of his success to what he learned in the ring, and he urges every young dairy farmer...

AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
Well, what are we waiting for, boy?" he yelled as he grabbed the gun from the wall. You can take several long detours before you can implement your farming plans. Arecent's study found that more people enter a profession because of the prestige it offers rather than because of the salary.
In this connection, the number of jobs is important, as it affects the opportunities for employment. At present, and this includes the sparsely populated states, the nation averages about four ag teachers per county, and the number is increasing. Frequent meetings with other ag teachers tend to foster community and camaraderie, as well as a lot of friendly competition that adds joy and anticipation to each hour of work.

The fly problem is increased in caged laying hens because all the chicken's droppings are concentrated in one area. Most cage managers in the Valley pay little attention to the heat problem, other than ensuring adequate ventilation and a continuous supply of cool water for the chickens. Due to the high initial cost of caged laying hens, it is wise to think twice before discarding other egg production systems.
In 1951, an iron-muscled boy from the small town of Brockton, Mass., stunned the sports world by dragging Joe Louis unconscious in front of a packed house at Madison Square Garden.
