Convention from the interest shown by the businessmen of our country in the FFA." A past president of the state of Minnesota. Just a few years ago, he had nothing but a burning ambition to be a farmer and $450 in borrowed money. Chuck started his farming program with 300 broilers and one gilt on the family farm, about six miles from Northrield, Minnesota.

There is no competition with his father's agricultural program. HerbZimmerman, who raises a dairy herd and grows grain and corn on his 280 acres. Chuck credits a lot of help with his family, especially sisters Annie and Katie, who helped with the worry when other farm work took up his extra time. Consultant Hovlands says what's remarkable about Chuck's business is that he made all his own turkey equipment.

When daylight hours didn't give Chuck enough time, he set up portable lights in the yard and worked at night. He is also a stockholder in the Dennison Cooperative Elevator and the Northrield Farmers' Cooperative Elevator, in which he purchases. At the 1952 Minnesota Convention, he was elected state treasurer, and later that year, the Minnesota Star Farmer.

The results gathered from Shell Chemical's field research show, again and again, that you can get a higher yield of high quality corn by treating your soil with aldrin. Thousands of growers throughout the corn belt are controlling major soil insects with powerful aldrin. Here are the results that Mr. FranklinRodgers.Corso.Mo., received when treated with Aldrin: "I will remove the wheat with Aldrin. I will leave! 4 from the field t .. the strips are treated. they are formed, they are better filled and there are less nubbins." . New career opportunities lie in the field of food technology, with the help of industry representatives who paved the way. The Kansas State College School of Agriculture offers a four-year course in this subject and is the only one of its kind in the world. A step forward in this educational project was completed last November, when the half-million-dollar Food Technology and Pilot Building was dedicated in Manhattan, Kansas.

According to executives at the American Feed Producers Association, there is a shortage of skilled personnel in this growing industry. The four-year course is flexible and allows students to study related subjects essential to the study of feed technology, as well as liberal arts courses. And so you have another career ahead of you – in the growing field of feed technology.

JoeTezak, Norton University's lanky forward, dribbled past midcourt, cut sharply behind Case's defender, who was flying all over him with his arms up, and sent the ball under the basket. So what was the miner's son.'. it was here at select Norton University. Joe bounced away from the man covering him and took the final pass to Davis.

He sprinted down the court with a brisk pace until he was a short distance from the basket, then stopped short. With a beautiful one-handed shot, he put the ball through the basket to bring Norton within two points of the tie. Case hurriedly called lor time out. and cheerleaders jumped in front of the rooting sections.

Davis, the team captain, was the one everyone looked to for guidance and provided the oul with the smart answers he was an expert at. Already he had scored 27 of the team's points to Davis' four, but the blond captain happened to be on the line , so they could save the match. If Davis would spend more time playing the game and less talking a good game, the result might read differently.

Davis said nonchalantly as they sat on the ground waiting for the whistle. "Thanks," Joe replied dryly, wiping the sweat from his face with a towel. During these timeout sessions and during the locker room conversations, he felt…uneasy among his teammates. Davis fit in well with this group, which seemed to be unconsciously measured in terms of background and wealth rather than ability. “Let's catch 'em, gang.”

Davis was in the open and hit a layup that tied the score. On the last desperate play, guard Case threw the ball far up where the man was in the open - almost. On his way to the top of his streak, he flipped in the air and sent the ball into the waiting hands of Davis, who sank a peepshot for the equalizer just as the gun sounded to end the game.

Coach Harmonwas looking at him. "Why did you do that?" he asked hoarsely, nervously running his fingers through his sparse gray hair. "Do what?" asked Joe, now wide awake.. 34;You almost made that set shot, but still you took a chance and passed the ball to Davis. In a few minutes the team poured in. Yell angel and slap each other on the back as the) crow about their victory. Joe. bent over untying his shoes. On the court, he ran into the fast-break, high-scoring team like a wheel in a clockwork.
