Preparations are underway at the National FFA Center to engrave awards for eight Farmer and Agribusiness All-Stars, prepare ribbons and certificates for American Farmer Honorary Degrees and other VI awards, and package merchandise to be sold in the Supply Services Tent at this convention. Another major change to the schedule will be the holding of an extemporaneous speaking competition outside of the core term. This will take place on Friday morning in the Music Hall of the Municipal Auditorium. Next year, a speech contest will be prepared at that time and.

During a packed evening session witnessed by approximately 20,000 FFA members, advisors, sponsors and guests, national president Steve Meredith will open the envelope and read out the names "Ladies and Gentlemen, Star Farmer and Star Agribusiness of America. Five years ago advised Steve Fford High School, decided to enter a team in the competition. The purpose of the course is to teach the safe use of firearms for the sport of hunting as well as the responsibility that goes along with hunting.
An agreement was made between Charles Green, a local resident, and the school for the team to practice on his land near the school. Unlike the national tournament, at the North American tournament each team could consist of only five members. Today, he is a full partner in Chapel Bank Farm, along with his parents, sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
John took great pride in the registered Holstein herd and gradually improved it through embryo transfer and artificial insemination. His skill with the dairy cow earned him his chapter's milk judging team. The large number of irons in the fire added an element of diversification to John's operation. David Daniel, Byron's teacher and advisor, recalls that Byron wrote in the planning section of his Ag-I record book that his career goal was to become a dairy farmer.

The FFA project, a 40-foot by 40-foot corn kernel demonstration, is in its second year. The primary objective of the chapter's demonstration plot is to educate the public about ag production. The officers of 1984-85 were busy with the meeting dialogue and the insurance they had. FrankMetzer, head of the ag department, and his wife donated a plaque in the shape of Texas with all the names of Lone Star farmers. The plaque was donated in memory.
