Measurement and Calculation of the Bias Stability of Fiber Optic Gyroscope

H. Khoshmanesh, R. Poursalehi, J. Payamara

Department of Physics, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Shahed University

Abstract- Bias stability is an important parameter in a fiber optic gyroscope which nowadays is the heart of a perfect navigation system. Manufacturers of fiber optic gyroscopes always specify parameters generally therefore an accurate positioning systems need measuring, calculation and modeling of the important fiber optic gyroscope parameters exactly.

This paper presents bias stability of the fiber optic gyroscope model VG941-3AM. Data was measured and bias stability was calculated via Allen variance method. These results can provide a useful technique for standardization and determination of quality of the fiber optic gyroscope sensor for application in accurate and reliable navigation systems.
