This study aimed to
quantifi
the claims of previous studies regarding the positive relationship of the duration of time of hemodialysis (HD) treatment to psychological disturbances such as stress, anxiety, and depression. The relationships among the duration of HD treatment and level of stress, anxiety, and depression wereexplored.Methodological design also guided this study.
A
purposivesample of 100 parients undergoing hemodialysis from four hemodialysis centersin
Pampanga accomplished the2l-item
DepressionAnxiety
Stress Scale (DASS). Results showed that srress, anxiety, and depression werehighly
correlatedwith
the duration of hemodialysis. Regardless of the duration, the patient on maintenance hemodialysis isstill
experiencing certain degreesof
stress, anxiety and depression. Therefore, management plan for possible psychotherapy
or
counseling of patients who are undergoing HD treatment should take these issues to consideration.
