Missing man – Daniel Msiza (63)
BRITS POS – HEBRON - The police in Hebron request the community’s assistance in locating Daniel Msiza (63), who resides at Michasview Section, Hebron Village.
Msiza was last seen on Friday, 10 March 2023, at about 08:00 when he left his place of residence to go and buy cigarettes at a local tuck shop. However, he never returned home.
A search was conducted around the neighbourhood without any success. He was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt, black striped trousers and a pair of sandals. Msiza is brown in complexion, of an average height with a slender body structure and a bald head.

BRITS POS – BRITS - A Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign conducted in the Madibeng Municipal area, helped to raise awareness of the plight of violence perpetrated against women, children, as well as the elderly.
Together with the Department of Social Development and important local stakeholders, De Wildt Solar provided support and resources to the affected community members. “We are pleased to be able to work together with our local stakeholders in this important fight against Gender-Based Violence and for the chance to provide support and resources to those affected is crucial. By working together and taking concrete steps, we can help create safer communities and prevent the perpetration of these acts of violence, in the first place,” stated Julius Nong, Community Liaison Officer for De Wildt Solar. As part of this initiative, 11 grocery vouchers were provided for survivors of GBV, families in need, and a 95-year-old community resident. “Our country is burdened with a pandemic of violence, largely affecting women, girls, and children. Our aim is to raise awareness around these issues and advocate for change,” added Nong. Stakeholders included the Department of Social Development, the Provincial Department of Public Works and Roads, SAPS, Loago La Rona Domestic Violence Care and Community Development Centre.

BRITS POS – BRITS - The Executive Mayor of Madibeng Local Municipality, Cllr Douglas Maimane officially launched a new fleet of nine REL Compactor Waste Trucks and ten Water Tankers for potable water at a ceremony held on Monday, 13 March 2023 in Brits.
In addressing the launch ceremony that was attended by Members of the Mayoral Committee, the Acting Municipal Manager, municipal officials and drivers of the new fleet vehicles, the Executive Mayor expressed that the purchase of the new fleet is a good step in the right direction for the Municipality in efforts to save costs.
“We have done the right thing by purchasing this fleet of vehicles as we will now be able to save the much-needed money and render services to our people with the necessary efficiency. The Auditor-General indicated some ten years ago that we lost more money with contracted services, so having our fleet will definitely save us money,” said Executive Mayor Maimane. The Executive further appealed to the drivers to take good care of their vehicles and to always think about the communities that are in need of municipal services.

Missing girl found murdered

BRITS POS – CYFERSKUIL - A missing person’s case was opened at Cyferskuil police station on Monday, 6 March after a 15-year-old girl, Karabo Monyama did not return home after allegedly attending a soccer match on Sunday afternoon, 5 March with her boyfriend Lucky Malete (23).
Allegedly her boyfriend was the last person who saw her and he was questioned and he also filed a sworn affidavit to that effect.
However, on Wednesday, 8 March around 18:00 Cyferskuil detectives went to his house for further questioning. Malete showed police a shallow grave where he allegedly buried Karabo after he murdered her. Her body was found in the grave and the suspect was arrested.
Cases of murder, defeating the ends of justice and perjury was opened at the Cyferskuil police station.
The suspect appeared in the Moretele Magistrates’ Court and the case has been postponed to Friday, 14 April and the suspect remains in custody.
Business robbed during broad daylight
BRITS POS – BRITS - A cashier at PEP stores in Spoorweg Street, Brits on Monday, 6 March around 12:45 noticed three male customers entering the store.
One of the men lifted his shirt and showed the cashier that he was armed and he went to her cash register and emptied the cash contents.
The remaining suspects held the staff at gunpoint, demanding cash. One employee managed to activate the alarm and the suspects fled from the scene in a white Toyota Corolla.
No shot was fired and no injuries reported.
A case of business robbery was opened at Brits police station.
“No arrests have yet been made,” says Col Adéle Myburgh, spokesperson for SAPS North West.
Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is requested to call the Investigating Officer Sgt Sebatjane on 012 381 6077.
Taxi fee dispute leaves one man wounded
When police arrived on the scene, the victim had already been transported in a private vehicle to a hospital in Brits where he was found being treated for critical injuries sustained after an argument between the taxi driver victim and four men ensued about the fare being raised from R20 to R25. The victim had bullet wounds to his stomach, one arm and chest and could not speak.
The suspects fled the scene in a silver Toyota Corolla. An attempted murder case was opened at Brits police station. “No arrest has been made, but anyone with information that could assist the police to trace the suspects is asked to call the Investigating Officer Sgt Sebatjane at Brits police station on 012 381 6077,” says Col Adéle Myburgh, SAPS North West spokesperson.

Four robbers nabbed after business robbery
Allegedly the men entered the shop, held all the staff and customers at gunpoint and ordered everyone to lie down and demanded money.
Police were telephonically notified of the business robbery in progress.
While everyone was held at gunpoint, the other three robbers started taking and loading stock from the shop into a Toyota Hilux. When police arrived at the scene, the suspects were spotted and police gave chase. One shot was fired at police, but the police
members managed to force the suspects to stop and they then ran into a bushy area. All the stolen items were recovered and police later arrested the four suspects. One had a firearm of which the serial number was filed off and also live ammunition.
A business robbery case was opened at the Cyferskuil police station.
“The suspects, Tshepo Mndawe (35), Evance Mc Donald Mpela (26), Bernert Lukas Mthinunye (41) and Letlhogonolo Ramohube (35) appeared in the Temba Magistrates’ Court,” says Col Adéle Myburgh, SAPS North West spokesperson.

BRITS POS – CYFERSKUIL - Four suspects raided a business at Ngobi, Cyferskuil on Thursday, 9 March around 13:50.
BRITS POS – MOOINOOI - Saterdagmiddag, omstreeks 15:30 was ‘n gesin van vyf op die N4, net voor die Petroport by Mooinooi onderweg, toe die een band van die Mitsubishi-bakkie waarin hulle gereis het, klaarblyklik pap geword het en hulle genoodsaak was om stil te hou.
Die pa het uitgeklim om die domkrag en die noodwiel te kry, toe drie mans op hom afloop. Een was gewapen en het die pa beveel om plat op die teerpad te gaan lê. Die ander twee verdagtes het die ma en drie kinders beveel om uit die voertuig te klim en langs die pad in bosse te gaan staan. Terwyl die gewapende verdagte die bestuurder met ‘n vuurwapen aangehou het, het die ander twee die bakkie deursoek en twee selfone, kontant, ‘n skootrekenaar, kamera en rugbystewels gebuit en te voet gevlug. Niemand is beseer nie en die gesin kon, nadat die band vervang is, terugkeer na hulle huis in Mooinooi waar ‘n saak van gewapende roof by die Mooinooi polisiekantoor geopen is.
“Niemand is tot dusver in hegtenis geneem nie en enigeen met inligting wat die polisie in hulle ondersoek kan help, kan die ondersoekbeampte, sersant Maselesele by die Mooinooi-polisiestasie kontak op 014-5745000,” versoek kolonel Adéle Myburgh, woordvoerder van die polisie in Noordwes.

Onlangs het Heilene Steenkamp die vroue gewys hoe om besondere ontwerpe met vetplante uit haar eie tuin te maak. Heilene het ‘n uitgebreide kennis van vetplante en haar tuin is kunstig uitgelê met ‘n groot verskeidenheid vetplante, broodbome en ander plante.
Vandag, Donderdag, 16 Maart, 13:30 gaan die onderwerp “skulptuur” van nader bekyk word in die Hervormde Kerk Hartbeespoort (oorkant Madibeng munisipaliteit) en hier is die uitdaging - om ‘n ontwerp van plantmateriaal te maak wat ook as ‘n beeldhouwerk uitgestal kan word.
Floret nooi die publiek uit om hulle opedag op Donderdag, 25 Mei, by te woon.
Faan Haasbroek gaan optree as demonstrateur en wys hoe om afvalmateriaal kunstig deel van ‘n ontwerp te maak.
Daar sal ‘n oggend- en ‘n middagsessie aangebied word met ‘n ligte ete ingesluit.
Hulle nooi ook laerskoolkinders uit om in te skryf vir ‘n uitstalling en ‘n gogga van plantmateriaal te maak.

Talle ongelukke en huisbrande die afgelope naweek
Sondag, net nadat die huisbrand in Hartbeespoort geblus is, is Station 21 na ‘n grasdakhuis in Hartbeeshoek ontbied waar ‘n huis besig was om af te brand, maar ongelukkig was dit reeds te laat en die huis is deur die brand verwoes.
Sondagaand, 12 Maart is Station 21 – brand en redding na ‘n huisbrand by ‘n landgoed in Hartbeespoort ontbied. Klaarblyklik het ‘n weerligstraal ‘n palmboom raakgeslaan wat aan die brand geslaan het en die brand het vinnig na die nabygeleë huis versprei.
Station 21 het saam met Madibeng-brandweer die vuur geblus, maar groot skade is deur die vuur aangerig.
Die bestuurder van ‘n motor het Sondag, 12 Maart op die N4 Bakwena-snelweg beheer daaroor verloor en die voertuig het gerol. Die enjin het losgekom en buite die motor beland. Albei insittendes het veiligheids gordels aangehad en geen ernstige beserings opgedoen nie.
Saterdag, 11 Maart het ‘n motorfiets agter in ‘n motor op die N4 Bakwena-snelweg naby die weegbrug vasgery. Een persoon is met ernstige besering deur HEMS na ‘n hospitaal in Brits vervoer.

BRITS POS – BRITS - Die 14-jarige Hanrike Barnard van Die Hoërskool Wagpos het onlangs twee bronsmedaljes by haar top gala van die seisoen behaal by die SA 2 Regional Age Group Champs by Hillcrest in Pretoria.
78 klubs het aan die gala deelgeneem en Hanrike, ‘n uitmuntende borsslagswemmer van Champion-swemklub, het twee derde plekke in die 100 m en 200 m-borsslagitems behaal. Ook ‘n sewende plek in die 50 m-rugslag en ‘n tiende plek in die 50 m-borsslag.

BRITS POS – MOOINOOI – Laerskool Elandskraal het Saterdag, 11 Maart, ‘n uiters feestelike en geslaagde Rugby- en Netbaldag aangebied en ten spyte van die verhoogde brandstofpryse het honderde spelers, ouers, grootouers en vriende vanuit al die windrigtings op Elies toegesak om die dag te vier.
Rugby -en netbalspelers van die laerskole Elandskraal, Sanddrift, Thornhill, Koedoeskop, Brits, Olien- park, David Brink en Rustenburg het almal in ‘n goeie gees deelgeneem en die talent onder die spelers was van hoogstaande standaard.
Die talle pragtige groot bome op Elies se terrein het vir welkome skaduwee gesorg, maar vir al die spelers noord van die Magaliesberg, was die maksimum temperatuur van 33ºC die dag, nie ‘n uitdaging nie.
Laerskool Elandskraal bedank elkeen wat bygedra het om van die sportdag ‘n reuse sukses te maak.
