KGABALATSANE Robber kills resident
BRITS POS – BRITS - Two friends were chatting outside a house in Kagisanong View, Kgabalatsane Village just after midnight on Saturday, 27 August, when an armed male approached them, instructing them to return to the house where the one victim’s husband was.
The suspect shot the man (48) and ransacked the house, taking cellphones and electronic equipment and then fled the scene on foot.
The victim was rushed to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
“House robbery and murder cases were registered at SAPS Hebron,” according to Lt Col Amanda Funani. SAPS North West spokesperson,
“but no arrest has been made at this stage and investigation into the

BRITS BUSINESS ROBBERY Criminals caught, one pays with life
BRITS POS – BRITS – Crime doesn’t pay as one suspect could have vouched for, but has died due to the group’s escape from the crime scene.
On Friday, 26 August 2022 around 11:05, four men entered the branch of PEP stores in De Witts Avenue, Brits demanding cellphones and cash.
All the cellphones from the display unit were taken and cash from the tills. They left the shop and sped off in a light delivery van (bakkie) without injuring anyone inside the shop. Around the same time that the suspects fled the scene, SAPS members from Hartbeespoortdam police station were on their way from Hartbeespoort to Brits when the LDV was spotted speeding towards Hartbeespoort on the R511. At the bridge crossing over the N4 Bakwena highway, with on- and off ramps onto the highway, police made a U-turn and started chasing the LDV, indicating to the driver to pull over, but instead he tried to overtake a truck, which was making its way onto the N4 and then collided with the truck. Four suspects ran away from the accident scene, but were apprehended by the SAPS members. With the impact of the vehicles
in the accident, another suspect got trapped between the LDV and truck and passed away.
Another two suspects managed to flee from the scene. Cases of Business robbery; Culpable homicide, Possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition were registered at the Brits police station “Firearms, live ammunition and numerous cellphones were recovered at the scene, but not the cash,” says SAPS North West spokesperson, Lt Col Amanda Funani. “Police are still looking for the two suspects and the other four suspects appeared in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
They are: Raymond Ndlovu (30), Wonderboy Mdletshe (34), Xolani Khambule (23) and Eric Sibanda (34).
Their next Court appearance is Monday, 5 September for formal bail application. Anyone with information on the two suspects who managed to escape, is requested to phone the Investigating Officer at Brits police station, Colonel Mojane on 082 416 3598.

Woman dies after being mysteriously shot
around 14:00, when he received a call from his next-door neighbour advising him that his mother was lying outside the residence, apparently after falling.
When the man arrived home, he rushed his mother to a medical facility where it was established that she had mysteriously been shot three times and had succumbed to her injuries. A murder case was registered at the Klipgat police station and investigations by detectives are ongoing. According to Lt Col Amanda Funani, SAPS North West spokesperson no arrests have been made, but anyone with information is requested to urgently call SAPS Klipgat on 060 987 8587.

Thugs target bakery employees delivering bread
BRITS POS – MOOINOOI - An employee of a bakery in Brits and two assistants were delivering bread to outlets in Modikwane Section, Tornado, Mooinooi on Friday, 26 August around 09:30.
The driver got out of the truck to get the order from the owner of a tuck shop. He received the payment and returned to the truck where his assistants were at the back of truck, only to find that they were locked inside the rear of the truck and it only later transpired that they were robbed of their cellphones by another suspect. The driver was held at gunpoint by another suspect and instructed to get into the cab of the truck, where his was robbed of the cash, his cellphone and personal belongings. No one was hurt during the robbery.
Both suspects fled the scene on foot and the driver could free his assistants. A case of armed robbery was registered at the Mooinooi police station. “I can confirm that we are investigating a case of armed robbery,” says Lt Col Amanda Funani, SAPS North West spokesperson, “and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
BRITS POS – BOKFONTEIN – Two men were in the lounge of a house on a smallholding in Bokfontein, Brits Sunday, 28 August 2022 around 20:15.
Suddenly three men entered the premises, all armed (shotgun, rifle and hammer) and demanded cash. The suspects took a .303 Lee Enfield rifle, ammunition, a power bank, cellphone and cash and fled the scene on foot. Nobody was injured and a house robbery case was registered at Brits police station.
“No arrests have yet been made,” says Lt Col Amanda Funani, SAPS North West spokesperson, but anyone with information is requested to contact the Investigating Officer, Col Rankupeleng Morapedi at Brits police station on 082 856 1392.

Verskeie ongelukke in die omgewing
BRITS POS – BRITS – Die afgelope naweek was daar verskeie ongelukke in die omgewing en daar word ‘n ernstige beroep op motoriste en veral voetgangers gedoen om ten alle tye waaksaam en paraat te wees.
Die paramedici van Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in Brits, het die volgende inligting van vier voorvalle deurgegee.
Donderdag, 25 Augustus was daar
‘n enkelvoertuig ongeluk op die R556 naby Barseba. Die bestuurder het vermoedelik beheer oor die voertuig verloor.
Die voertuig het gerol en in ‘n rivier tot stilstand gekom. Daar was vyf persone in die voertuig en net twee is beseer en deur die paramedici van HEMS na ‘n hospitaal Brits vervoer.
In ‘n beweerde rooftog, Vrydag 26 Augustus op die R512/N4-afrit in die rigting van Rustenburg, het die bestuurder van die vermoedelik verdagte bakkie van die polisie weggejaag toe dit teen ‘n vragmotor gebots het. Een persoon is op die toneel dood verklaar.

MEDICLINIC BRITS
Top class upgrades offer additional capacity
BRITS POS – BRITS – “It is the small things that matter,” says Sonja Landman, Mediclinic Brits’ Hospital General Manager. “We are pleased to confirm a number of upgrades have been completed over the last two years and we trust that these will improve not only the care we are able to deliver, but also the patient experience.”
As a result of the growing demand for care within the Brits community, Mediclinic Brits was able to expand their care offering with an additional 11 beds within the first phase of the building upgrades to better serve the community. An additional 11 beds will be added early in 2023 to bring the hospital
capacity to over 100 registered beds.
The expansion will be carried out in phases, with the upgrades to the intensive care unit (ICU), high care unit HCU (HIC), medical unit as well as the management block already completed. The capacity in the ICU and HIC has more than doubled and the medical

Six years later and no services by Madibeng forthcoming BRITS POS – LETLHABILE – The community of Block I extension in Letlhabile has taken to a protest march on Monday, 29 August protesting a total lack of services in the area.
According to community members they have been staying in that extension of the informal settlement since May 2016 and six years later, the Madibeng Local Municipality has failed them as none of the promises made had been met.
The MMC of the municipality, Esther Bopape met with the community on Monday, and a memorandum with grievances was handed to her.
Brits Pos contacted Madibeng Local Municipality and spokesperson, Tumelo Tshabalala responded on behalf of the Department of Human Settlement who acknowledges and recognises the concerns of the community and also said that 43 informal settlements fall within the jurisdiction of the municipality.
The municipality has financial constraints and is heavily reliant on other spheres of government towards provision of other services.
“In accordance with government systems, developments are made on land portions that are formalised,” stated Tshabalala “and as such, in October 2021 a service provider was appointed to formalise the area consent.
During the process it was realized. that the area has got many households that the budget could not cover. As a result, the project will be divided into 3-phases.”
The work is continuing on the 1st phase where the required studies are developed (traffic impact study, geotechnical study, legal land audit, bulk engineering services and the draft layout plan.

communities are expecting,” Tshabalala
concludes.

Twee van Amanzi Atletiekklub se lede, Hannes Grobler en Soko Polelo het die 2022 Comrades Marathon suksesvol voltooi. Hannes het vir die 20ste keer die Comrades gehardloop en dit in ‘n tyd van 10:13;08 voltooi. Dit was Soko se eerste wedloop en hy het dit in ‘n tyd van 09:21;38 voltooi. Die 2022 Comrades was ‘n down run wat by die stadsaal in Pietermaritzburg begin en by die Moses Mabhida Stadion in Durban geëindig het. Die afstand was ongeveer 90km.

Vir die 10de agtereenvolgende keer het Laerskool Olienpark verlede Saterdag, met groot sukses, die skool se jaarlikse oggendtee aangebied. Die 350 gaste het die oggend, met die tema Kosbare Herinneringe en gaskustenaars, Du Preez Stoltz en Anton Esterhuyse, by keurig gedekte tafels terdeë geniet. Die organiseerders bedank almal vir hul betrokkenheid en ondersteuning. oggendtee ‘n groot sukses
krieketspanne van Hoërskool Brits en Die Hoërskool Wagpos het mekaar Woensdag, 24 Augustus op Wagpos se velde die stryd aangesê en dié skouspelagtige wedstryd was in goeie gees gespeel.
Dit was die eerste keer in baie jare dat dié twee skole mekaar op die krieketveld gepak het, en dit was voorwaar ‘n titaniese stryd!
Wagpos het die loot gewen en het gekies om eerste te kolf. Hulle het vir Brits ‘n telling van 117 op die bord gesit. Brits het die wedstryd beklink in ‘n naelbytstryd, met die wenlopies aangeteken deur slegs twee balle oor in hulle beurt.
Hoërskool Brits, Hoërskool Hartbeespoort en Die Hoërskool Wagpos se eerstespanne neem vanjaar vir die eerste keer deel aan ‘n driehoekige reeks wat deur die drie skole georganiseer is.
Dié driehoekige reeks sal ‘n jaarlikse instelling word en die publiek word hartlik uitgenooi om die wedstryde te kom ondersteun.

Dié Kwenaspanne speel op 10 September teen Laerskool Rustenburg en 17 September teen Sentraal-Wes.

BRITS POS – BRITS – As deel van
‘n bewusmakingsveldtog vir die bemagtiging van vroue gedurende vrouemaand (Augustus), het die bestuur van Bosveld Karate Akademie die Bosveld Karate Pink Power-inisiatief by die klub gestig.
Onder die bekwame afrigting van Sensei Vernon Visagie het lede gedurende Augustus met pienk gordels geoefen.
“Ons strewe met dié inisiatief is om vroue in sport en veral karate, ‘n groter blootstelling en platform te gee om met selfvertroue, nie net die kuns van karate te bemeester nie, maar ook vir selfverdediging,” sê Sensei Vernon. “Tradisioneel word karate met die manlike geslag vereenselwig, maar by ons dojo is 40% van die lede vroulik.”
Dié inisiatief was ‘n groot sukses en sal voortaan deel van ‘n volhoubare oefenprogram by die klub wees.

Pienk staan vir ‘ power’
Phillip du Plessis,
‘n gr.6-leerling van Laerskool Brits het met groot sukses aan die SA Kids Africa Junior Open gholftoernooi by San Lameer gholflandgoed in KwaZulu-Natal deelgeneem.
Die toernooi het vanaf 22 tot 25 Augustus plaasgevind en spelers van 52 lande het hieraan deelgeneem.
Phillip het ‘n 3de plek in die afdeling seuns o.12 jaar behaal en is algeheel 7de van al die spelers.

Hoërskool Brits se eerste tennisspan, Estelle Neethling, Kaylee Cloete, Monique Strydom en Annie van Schalkwyk, is Maandag as wenners van die finale ronde van die Noordwes skoleliga in Potchefstroom, met ‘n
eindtelling van 6-2 gekroon.
Kaylee wen 9-0, Annie wen 9-0, Estelle wen 5-4 en Monique wen 7-2.
