GGGB6423 Psikologi Silang Budaya
Kursus ini bertujuan memberi kefahaman tentang konteks budaya dalam perhubungan serta isu-isu yang berkaitan secara global dan juga tempatan. Fokus utama kursus ini ialah memberi pengertian kepada pelajar tentang makna kepelbagaian budaya, teori di sebalik kepelbagaian budaya, tren dalam masyarakat yang berasaskan budaya, serta kemahiran-kemahiran yang diperlukan untuk memahami, berfungsi dan membantu dalam masyarakat pelbagai budaya. Antara topik-topik yang disentuh ialah konsep- konsep psikologi seperti sikap, nilai, kepercayaan dan perspektif, kepelbagaian manusia berasaskan demografi seperti umur, jantina, etnik, bahasa, status dan perbezaan fizikal, serta caragaya hidup seperti dinamika kelompok, keluarga, dan komuniti. Selain dari itu, pelajar juga dilatih dengan kemahiran-kemahiran dan etika yang diperlukan untuk memahami, berinteraksi dan seterusnya membantu dalam masyarakat pelbagai budaya.
GGGB6423 Cross Cultural Psychology
This course focuses on the cultural context in looking at relationships and related issues both at the local as well as global level. The main focus is on the meaning of cultural diversity, the underlying theories, trends in society based on culture, the requirement of skills to understand, to function and to help others in a plural and diverse society. Among topics discussed are psychological concepts such as attitude, values, beliefs, perspectives and diversity based on demography such as gender, ethnicity, language, status and physical differences, as well as life-styles such as the dynamics in groups, in families and in the community. Students will also be introduced to skills and ethics to understand, interact and to help others in a diverse society.

Kursus ini akan berfokus kepada teori-teori perancangan pendidikan seperti pendekatan permintaan sosial, pendekatan tenaga manusia, pendekatan analisis kos-faedah, analisis kos-keberkesanan dan pendekatan korelasi kepada perancangan pendidikan. Kursus ini juga akan membincangkan aspek-aspek lain dalam perancangan pendidikan seperti kualiti pendidikan, ekuiti, kos, perkembangan pendidikan swasta, dan lain-lain lagi. Kursus ini akan berasaskan kajian kes situasi sebenar untuk menganalisis tahap kejayaan dan kegagalannya dalam perancangan pendidikan.

This course focuses on the theories and approaches in educational planning such as the social demand, the manpower requirement, cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis and the correlation approach to education planning. This course also discusses topics such as educational quality, equity, cost, the development in private education etc. This course is based on real cases in order to enable analysis of the success and failure of educational planning.

The purpose of this course is to expose students to the relationship and impact of culture in the context of teaching and learning languages. The focus is on cultural implications as related to the teaching and learning a second language. The main topics include definitions of culture: language and culture, education and cultural process, cross- cultural communication strategies, culture and second language teaching and cross-
cultural understanding. This course is conducted in the form of lectures and seminars. Students are expected to participate actively in class.
