GGGE6333 Linguistik Terapan dan Pengajaran Bahasa

Kursus ini bertujuan untuk meninjau hubungan antara linguistik dengan pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa. Kursus ini juga bertujuan untuk melatih pelajar dalam amalan yang dapat membentuk suasana pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa yang berkesan. Kursus dijalankan dalam bentuk kuliah dan seminar. Antara tajuk-tajuk yang akan dibincangkan dalam kuliah termasuklah isu-isu dalam pendidikan Bahasa Melayu pada abad ke-21, teori pembelajaran bahasa dan implikasinya terhadap pengajaran bahasa, isu-isu dalam perkaedahan dan strategi pengajaran bahasa, komponen sastera dalam pengajaran bahasa, analisis kesilapan bahasa, penilaian dan penaksiran pengajaran bahasa.

GGGE6333 Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching

The course aims to explore the relationship between linguistics and the teaching and learning of language. The course also guides students to apply knowledge of linguistics to practical situations, particularly in creating effective language teaching and learning environment. The course will be conducted in the form of lectures and seminars. The topics covered include; issues in the teaching and learning of languages in the twenty first century, language learning theories and implications on the teaching of language, issues in the methodologies and strategies of language teaching, the literature component in language teaching, error analysis and language teaching, evaluation and assessment in teaching and learning of language.

GGGE6383 Bahan-bahan Pengajaran untuk Pembelajaran Bahasa Tujuan kursus ini adalah untuk membimbing pelajar membina bahan-bahan pengajaran yang berkesan untuk digunakan di dalam bilik darjah. Kursus ini juga bertujuan untuk memberi panduan kepada pelajar supaya dapat mengarang buku-buku teks bahasa untuk sekolah rendah dan menengah. Antara topik yang akan dibincangkan ialah: Tujuan Sukatan Pelajaran Bahasa Malaysia untuk Sekolah Rendah (KBSR), Menengah Rendah dan Menengah Atas; isu-isu dalam penilaian bahan-bahan pengajaran bahasa; ciri- ciri bahan-bahan pengajaran; strukturalis, transformasi, situasi, fungsional; penentuan bahan pengajaran bahasa, tinjauan bahan pengajaran Bahasa Malaysia di sekolah rendah dan menengah; isu-isu dalam pembentukan bahan-bahan perisian dan bahan-bahan pengajaran kendiri dan isu-isu dalam penilaian buku teks bahasa.

GGGE6383 Materials for Language Teaching and Learning

This course guides students in building teaching materials for effective language classroom teaching and in writing language textbooks for primary and secondary schools. Among related topics to be discussed are the aims and purpose of the Bahasa Malaysia syllabus at all levels: primary, lower secondary and upper secondary curriculum, issues in the evaluation of language teaching materials, characteristics of teaching materials; structural, transformational, situational, functional; determining and exploring language teaching materials for primary and secondary schools, issues in language teaching and laerning materials, self-teaching materials and in the evaluation of language textbooks.

GGGE6413 Polisi dan Perancangan Bahasa: Implikasinya Terhadap Pengajaran Bahasa

Kursus ini memfokus kepada polisi bahasa yang terlibat dalam perkembangan dan perancangan serta masalah-masalah yang dihadapi dalam perlaksanaan polisi bahasa. Antara topik yang ditinjau ialah definisi perancangan bahasa, teori-teori perancangan bahasa, isu-isu berkaitan dengan perancangan bahasa, dan kes-kes berkenaan dengan polisi bahasa dan perancangannya. Implikasi dasar bahasa dan perancangannya terhadap pengajaran di sekolah-sekolah juga dibincangkan. kursus ini juga mengemukakan contoh-contoh situasi penggunaan bahasa Melayu dan bahasa Inggeris di Malaysia.

GGGE6413 Language Policy and Curriculum Planning

This course focuses on the language policy and process involved in the development and planning of a language policy. It also examines the problems involved in the implementation of a language policy. The basic areas covered include definitions of language planning, theories and language planning, issues related to language policy, and cases of language policy and planning. The implications of language policy and planning for language classrooms in Malaysia will also be included. The Language situation in Malaysia with respect to the use of Malay and English will be discussed.

GGGE6533 Language Learning Strategies Instruction

This course is designed to explore issues related to language learning strategies and strategy training. Topics covered include characteristics of language learning strategies, typology of language learning strategies, methods for identifying language learning strategies, factors affecting language learning strategy use, research studies on language learning strategies and learner training, goals of learner training, model of strategy training and approaches to language learning strategies instruction. The course will also examine a number of Malaysian - based strategy training models.
