The first October rain that rought relief fro last ear’s e tre e drought had progressively intensified into first quarter of 2016. Average rainfall across our South Sumatra estates in 1Q16 climbed 95% versus the average recorded in 4Q15. Similarly with our Kalimantan estates whose locations are in Central and West Kalimantan. The region also recorded 87% more rainfall in 1Q16 versus 4Q15. In fact, rainfall statistics of both regions in 1Q16 had also exceeded first quarter average of the previous 5 years. Sumatra estates recorded 12% higher average while Kalimantan estates recorded 81% higher.

Along with the continued moisture recovery, our oil extraction rates had also strengthened in 1Q16 versus 4Q15, from 20.2% to 22.5%. Sumatra estates made the most improvement within the period by booking an increase from 19.9% in 4Q15 to 22.9% in 1Q16. Similarly in Kalimantan, extraction rates climbed from 21.5% in 4Q15 to 21.8% in 1Q16. Year on year comparison also showed some progress as the combined oil extraction rates rose from 22.3% in 1Q15 to 22.5% in 1Q16.

Sampoerna Agro produced a total of 63,679 tons of CPO in 1Q16, or 9% higher than the same period of 2015. Once again, Sumatra estates contributed to the production growth which registered 19% more output while Kalimantan registered 7% decline during the period.

In revenue terms, the Company booked Rp719.52 billion in 1Q16, or 37% higher than 1Q15. Year-on-year revenue growth within the period was attributable to a surge in sales volume among the two biggest revenue contributor. Sales volume of CPO rose 66% to 91,570 tons vs the same period in 2015 while PK sales volume escalated 23% to 14,567 tons.

On the flip side, palm oil commodity traded lower during 1Q16 versus the same period of 2015. Average selling price of CPO for Sampoerna Agro in 1Q16 amounted Rp6,547 per kg, or 17% lower versus 1Q15 figure. PK was also sold at 2% lower price in 1Q16 and averaged Rp4,750 per kg within the period. Both products, plus our DxP Sriwijaya seeds contributed a total of Rp694.83 billion of revenue for the period, or 97% of total consolidated revenue in 1Q16.
