ENTERING HIGH CROP PERIOD
Jakarta, 31 October 2012 – PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk. and subsidiaries “a poer a Agro" or the
Co pa released its unaudited financial and operational results for the period ending in 30 September 2012.
The Company just started to enter high crop period visibly starting from September 2012. Total Fresh
Fruit Bu ches FFB output i September alone accounted for 48% of total output in the third quarter that numbered 499,991 tons, or 35% higher over previous quarter. All of the 35% output growth was attributable to South Sumatra estates that climbed 46% because Kalimantan estates output dropped 2%. In total, South Sumatra region contributed 408,001 tons of FFB harvests in the third quarter 2012.
The high production occurred amidst drying weather condition surrounding the estates. South Sumatra estates received 70% less rainfall in third quarter 2012 than the previous quarter while Kalimantan estates received 35% less. On the other hand, Kalimantan estates had been receiving less rainfall than the average of 2011 for 7 months already while Sumatra estates had 5 months below 2011 average.
For the most part in third quarter 2012, Crude Pal Oil CPO price in Malaysia Derivatives Exchange steadily declined from Rm3,043 per ton on 2 July to Rm2,395 per ton on 28September. Quarterly average came down by 11%, from Rm3,218 per ton in second quarter to Rm2,850 per ton in third quarter. Between January to September 2012, average CPO price was Rm3,095 per ton, or 8% lower than the same period of last year.
The Company sold its CPO with an average price (net of export tax) of Rp7,564 per kg within the third quarter 2012, or 6% lower than the second quarter average. In the first nine months of 2012, the Company booked an average selling price of Rp7,669 per kg (net of export tax), or 0.3% lower than same period in 2011. Of total CPO sales, approximately 84% was sold to domestic markets.
Total revenue of the Company by end of September 2012 reached Rp2.15 trillion, or 14% less than same period 2011 mainly due to lower sales volume and selling prices of its main product. Palm products, consisting of CPO a d Pal Ker el PK , contributed 96% of total revenue. As a result, revenue contribution from CPO and PK for the period dropped by 11% and 35% respectively.
