AUTHOR GUIDELINES
GUIDELINES
We accept articles with the following types:
1. Research Paper 2. Literature review 3. Case study General Guideline
1. The article has never been published before.
2. Result-based research is prioritized for publication.
3. The article consists of 8-12 pages and it must be written in A4 paper, Times New Roman 12, single space, and margin of 3 for top, bottom, left, and right sides.
4. The article has no typos.
5. The article has no plagiarism.
6. The article is written in the form of an essay in which it has no dot points and numbering.
7. It does not use footnote or endnote, but running note (surname, year of publication: page) Title
1. The title is written in dual languages; those are Bahasa Indonesia and English.
2. The title in Bahasa Indonesia must not exceed 12 words; whereas, the title in English must not exceed 10 words.
3. The title must mention the results of the study.
4. There must be no subheading
5. The title is written in Calibri 14, Bold.Justify, Upercase
6. The initial letter of every word in the title must be capitalized except for conjunctions that must use small letters.
Name of author and institution of the author
1. The author’s name is completely written without academic title or indication of position and stratification.
2. The name of the institution is completely written.
3. Correspondence must include postal address, telephone, and email.
Abstract
1. The abstract is written in dual languages; are Bahasa Indonesia, and English.
2. The abstract must be written between 200 – 250 words in English and 200 – 250 words in Bahasa Indonesia.
3. The results and conclusions are written in the present tense (current time).
4. Abstract includes background problems, research objectives, research methods, results and conclusions
Keyword
1. Keyword must be written in dual languages; those are Bahasa Indonesia and English.
2. There must be at least two keywords in the abstract.
Introduction
1. The introduction is written using Calibri, 12, 1.15 Spacing, Justify, the introduction contains the background of the problem, literature review as the basis for scientific statements/support from the manuscript, it is hoped that there will be a scientific novelty statement on the written manuscript, problem formulation, hypotheses (if any); and research objectives.
2. The introduction is written in one chapter without subtitles. All presentations in the article are written in essay form, so there is no numeric or alphabetical format that separates chapters/sections, or to mark new chapters/sections. If there is a part of the article that requires numbering or bullet list, make it a flowing/steady paragraph of the essay as follows: (1) one, (2) two and (3) three.
3. Each quote from the book is quoted in the text, and cite the source in the bibliography.
In-text citations are written like this: (Author's last name, year: page) or (Author's last name, year). Footnotes are only allowed for interviews. Citation for manuscripts that use English, as follows: writing for a single author of a book (Yanto, 2017) and for authors of more than one to 5 people in proceedings (Pugliese et al., 2019) and journals (Soedarso et al., 2013), while for 6 or more authors (Pugliese et al., 2019), for citations from associations or institutions (BPS, 2018).
4. The article is the original work of the author and has never been published in other media. Manuscripts are presented in a narrative manner and presentation in the form of subtitles should be avoided.
Literature Review
1. The literature review is written in Calibri 12pt with 1.15 spacing.
2. The literature review should contain novelties in the field being studied, the results of other studies that have been achieved, preliminary studies that have been carried out, both printed and electronic documents / publications.
3. The literature review also contains the theoretical basis for our research so that it can show the position of our research compared to previous research.
Methods
1. The research method is written in Calibri 12pt with 1.15 spacing.
2. The research method in the article text describes the type of research (quantitative, qualitative, literature study), research subjects and objects, research time and location, research instruments, sampling method, data collection, and data analysis, except for manuscripts with the following types: observations, studies, as well as popular scientific papers will be assisted by the editor in adjusting the template.
Results of the study
1. The research results are written in Calibri 12pt with 1.15 spacing. Results and discussion describe the main findings of the research/text. The discussion includes presenting the data/information obtained and analyzing the data/information in accordance with the purpose of writing the article.
2. In the description of Results and Discussion, you can use sub-headings according to the problems discussed. Subtitles are written in bold and italics. If there are subtitles, then the subtitles are written in italics but not bold. The description of the results and discussion must be supported by references/references.
3. In manuscripts in the form of research, the author must compile, analyze, evaluate, interpret and compare the results of the latest findings with existing research findings, while other manuscripts will be assisted by the arrangement of templates with the editorial team. The author is expected to pay attention to the consistency of the article from the title to the bibliography.
4. Existing tables/figures are presented with sufficient explanations and by including table numbers and titles. The number and title of the table are placed above the table with left alignment with a font size of 10 pt., while the number and title of the figure are placed below the image with a center alignment. The author completes the table/figure by writing the source under each table/figure with a font size of 10 pt. Tables are made with borders and images must be clearly legible/viewable.
Conclusion
1. The closing is written in Times Calibri 12pt with 1.15 spacing.
2. The contents of the conclusion should be in the form of answers to questions and research objectives, besides that the conclusion has elements of Conclusions and Suggestions, the conclusion is the part that clearly indicates the results obtained, the advantages and disadvantages, as well as the possibility of further development.
3. Suggestion is a follow-up or implementation of the conclusion. Conclusion writing does not use pointers and numbering/numeric but uses paragraphs/essays. Closing is a synthesis of conformity between problems, goals, and results.
References
1. The bibliography is sorted alphabetically, without serial numbers, and is not separated between book, online, and other sources in the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition format.
2. Authors are advised to use Mendeley, Zotero, Endnote and other citation management applications in compiling the bibliography.
3. Bibliography contains references/sources of manuscript information originating from primary sources (scientific journals, research reports, printed books, e-books or proceedings and entire bibliography) published in at least the last 15 (ten) years.
Authorship
1. Filling in the statement form of responsibility upon all content of the article
2. Signing the statement that the article is not being proposed to another journal and it will not be submitted to another journal during the editing and reviewing process by JPUA.
3. Signing the statement of plagiarism-free 4. Attaching Curriculum Vitae (CV)
5. The editorial staff has the right to edit the article without changing the content and the main idea of the author.

PUBLICATION ETHICS
Jurnal Perpustakaan Universitas Airlangga(JPUA) is a peer-reviewed journal that aims to be a source of information about librarianship and library studies. We publish scientific papers, including research results, literature studies, which focus on the field of librarianship and Indonesian libraries. These writings have absolutely never been published in any language. In addition, these articles should not be assessed for publication in other journals. The following statement emphasizes the ethical behavior of all parties involved in journal management, namely, authors, editorial board, reviewers, managing editors, and publishers (Jurnal Perpustakaan Universitas Airlangga).
Our Ethic Statement is following Committee of Publication Ethic (COPE). We manage to perform a righteous peer-review with strict policies to assure a high standard quality scientific studies publish in this journal.
All manuscript that submitted into this journal, author(s) should warrant that manuscript is authentic, unpublished, and does not infringe on any existing copyright.
Author ought to ensure the manuscript is clear from plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Any unpublished data from authors’ own project without proper citation in a submitted paper will referred as self-plagiarism.
We check every paper using Turnitin. We will reject all papers that found not to be incompliance with the authenticity provision. Any claim of infringement will be process according to guideline.

Duties for Editor
Editor should be fair to evaluate all manuscript based on the merit (importance, clarity, originality) regardless of religion, race, nationality, or political philosophy of author. Editor-in-chief has the authority of journal content and publication related.
Editor and all editorial board must not disclose all information about the submitted manuscript other than corresponding author, reviewer, editorialadvisor.
All manuscript shall through peer-review appropriately, editor will review first and can reject paper in matter of low quality or outside journals’ scope. Suitable manuscript will then be reviewed by two reviewer and the decision of work will following the evaluation. Editor should not interfere the decision unless serious matter occurs.
Ensure the peer-review steps in high quality proceed with reliable referee and prevent any manipulation within the system.
Editor and reviewer board should manage any unethical issue objectively according to COPE guideline when one raised in regard to a submitted or published manuscript. Every report must have sufficient evidence and will be investigated thoroughly, even when discovered after several years. If misconduct is found, a correction, retraction, or notice will be published in the journal.
Duties for Reviewer
All submitted manuscript should treated confidentially, not discussed with other party except authorized by editor. Reviewer should not cite any unpublished data for their own work unless granted the permission from the author and express the gratitude. Privilege idea or information gain from peer- review should maintain confidential and not be used for personal matter.
Peer-review assist in making editorial decision and through editorial communication may help author to improve the manuscript. Peer-review is an essential part of formally scholar communication and any author that wished to contribute their work have an obligation to do a fair share of reviewing.
Any selected referee who feels unqualified to do review such a manuscript or its prompt review might be impossible should notify the editor and decline the invitation thus alternative referee can be contacted.
Reviewing all manuscript objectively to help author improving the manuscript. Personal criticism is inappropriate.
Reviewer should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by author. Any statement of observation, argument, suggestion from previous study should followed by relevant citation. Any substantial similarity or overlap with any other manuscript should be notified to the editor.
Duties for Author
Author should present data uprightly and provide comprehensive discussion to explain the significance of the findings.
Author should not publish manuscript describing similar essential finding in more than one journal.
Submitting a manuscript into more than one journal concurrently is considered unethical.
Any facts that inflict conflict of interest should state explicitly.
Any copied text from original text is should be write in quotation mark and cited in a proper way. All method, procedure, or idea following previous study should state explicitly. Image(s) must not be manipulated that leads to misinterpretation of original result.Fabrication in terms of making up the study finding is prohibited, falsification including: Manipulating research data with the intention of giving a false impression, removing outliers or “inconvenient” results, changing, adding or omitting data points. Such as above forgery is detected at peer-review process, the manuscript will be automatically rejected.
When a study involving human subject, human tissue, human data should carry out under the Declaration of Helsinki of 1975 or using animal model, all shall have gotten approval from Ethic Committee of the institution (ethical number).
Duties of Publisher
1. Publishing: Editor JPUA has to ensure that Jurnal Perpustakaan Universitas Airlangga is published on time for two times in a year.
2. Distributing: Soon after being published, JPUA distributes it to all authors and also the related stakeholders, including other research institutes and universities.
3. Promoting: Holding various offline activities, such as seminar and workshop, to promote Jurnal Perpustakaan Universitas Airlangga, as well as calling for papers to attract authors’ interests.
Article Processing Charge
Every article submitted to the JPUA: Jurnal Perpustakaan Universitas Airlangga: Media Informasi dan Komunikasi Kepustakawanan does not charge any 'Submission and 'Article Processing Fees' (FREE).
This includes peer-reviewing, editing, publishing, maintaining and archiving, and allow immediate access to the full-text versions of the article.
