ABSTRACT
Perception and Interest in English Teaching as Profession (A Survey towards Fifth Semester Students of English Department in
Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto)
DENA YUDIAPASA MULYONO 1201050105
The aims of this research were 1) to describe the fifth semester students‟
perception toward English teaching as a profession 2) to reveal the fifth semester
students‟ interest in English teaching as a profession. The research was descriptive. It was survey study. The population of this research was the fifth semester students of English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The researcher took 60 students as sample. The instruments of collecting data were questionnaire and interview. Data collection was conducted on December 2016. Based on the research result, researcher concluded that on
average the students‟ perception achieved M=2.95 (73.75%) and interest achieved M=2.98 (74.5%). It means that generally the most of fifth semester students had good perception and interest in English teaching as a profession.
