One of kinds of grammar is functional grammar. Actually, learners are still confused to make a good sentence. Therefore, to make it easier in functional grammar will learn about the function of sentence, just like nominal group, verbal group, adverbial group, conjunction group, and preposition group. In this case the researcher only focuses on nominal group. Because, it will help learners make a good structure and understand the meaning of sentences.
The objectives of the research are: (1) to find out the experiential structure of nominal group of article which are found in the Jakarta post newspaper issued in May 2012. (2) to find out the logical structure of nominal group of article which are found in the Jakarta post newspaper issued in May 2012.
This research is descriptive qualitative. The data of this research is nominal group structure of article newest news on Jakarta post newspaper in May 2012.
The result of the research found that the patterns of elements of experiential of nominal group of Article in Jakarta Post Newspaper Issued in May 2012 are: D+T (32, 89%), PD+T (0, 33%), N+T (3, 32%), E+T (1, 00 %), C+T (2, 99%), T+Q (5, 65%), D+T+Q (12, 62%), D+C+T (10, 29%), N+T+Q (5, 98%), D+E+T (2, 00%), C+T+Q (0, 66%), E+C+T (1, 00%), D+N+T (2, 99%), E+T+Q (0, 33%), N+E+T (0, 33%), PD+E+T (0, 66%), D+E+T+Q (2, 65%), D+E+C+T (1, 66%), D+C+T+Q (1, 33%), D+N+C+T (1, 00%), D+N+T+Q (1, 33%), D+PD+N+T (0, 33%), E+C+T+Q (0, 33%), PD+E+T+Q (0, 33%), N+E+C+T (0, 33%), N+E+T+Q (1, 33%), D+E+C+T+Q (1, 00%). And the patterns of elements of logical of nominal group of Article in Jakarta Post Newspaper Issued in May 2012 are: Pre-Modifier+Head (67, 11%), Head+Post-Modifier (5, 65%), Pre-Modifier+Head+Post-Modifier (27, 24%).
Therefore, the researcher suggests for the lecturers and the students. For the lecturers should use articles as a medium in teaching English and the lecturers should give articles which have complete elements of nominal group. And the students should learn and analyze nominal group in article. Beside that it will help them in arranging good written text.

Salah satu jenis tata bahasa adalah tata bahasa fungsional. Sebenarnya, peserta didik masih bingung untuk membuat kalimat yang baik. Oleh karena itu, untuk lebih memudahkan dalam membuat kalimat yang bagus, di tata bahasa fungsional akan dipelajari tentang fungsi kalimat, seperti kelompok nominal, kelompok kata kerja, kelompok kata keterangan, kelompok penghubung, dan kelompok kata depan. Dalam hal ini peneliti hanya berfokus pada kelompok nominal. Sebab, hal itu akan membantu peserta didik membuat struktur yang baik dan memahami makna kalimat.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) untuk mengetahui struktur pengalaman kelompok nominal artikel ditemukan di koran pos Jakarta diterbitkan pada bulan Mei 2012. (2) untuk mengetahui struktur logis dari kelompok nominal artikel ditemukan di koran pos Jakarta diterbitkan pada bulan Mei 2012. Penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data dari penelitian ini adalah kelompok struktur nominal artikel berita terbaru di koran pos Jakarta pada bulan Mei 2012.
Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pola unsur eksperiental struktur dari kelompok nominal di artikel Koran Jakarta pos pada bulan May 2012 adalah D+T (32, 89%), PD+T (0, 33%), N+T (3, 32%), E+T (1, 00 %), C+T (2, 99%), T+Q (5, 65%), D+T+Q (12, 62%), D+C+T (10, 29%), N+T+Q (5, 98%), D+E+T (2, 00%), C+T+Q (0, 66%), E+C+T (1, 00%), D+N+T (2, 99%), E+T+Q (0, 33%), N+E+T (0, 33%), PD+E+T (0, 66%), D+E+T+Q (2, 65%), D+E+C+T (1, 66%), D+C+T+Q (1, 33%), D+N+C+T (1, 00%), D+N+T+Q (1, 33%), D+PD+N+T (0, 33%), E+C+T+Q (0, 33%), PD+E+T+Q (0, 33%), N+E+C+T (0, 33%), N+E+T+Q (1, 33%), D+E+C+T+Q (1, 00%). Dan pola unsur logica struktur dari kelompok nominal di artikel Koran Jakarta pos pada bulan May 2012 adalah: Pre-Modifier+Head (67, 11%), Head+Post-Modifier (5, 65%), Pre-Modifier+Head+Post-Modifier (27, 24%).
Oleh karena itu, peneliti menyarankan untuk dosen dan mahasiswa. Untuk dosen seharusnya menggunakan artikel sebagai media dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris, dan dosen harus member artike yang mempunyai bagian-bagian dari kelompok nominal yang lengkap. Dan para siswa seharusnya belajar dan menganalisa kelompok nominal dalam artikel.
