7. CONSUMPTION
The average household consumption per capita a week by meat group (Table 7.1), in March 2022 compared to March 2021, sev- eral commodities experienced an increase, namely broiler chick- en meat by 8.73 percent and beef by 11.11 percent. Meanwhile, local chicken meat is still the same compared to the previous year. However, pork decreased by 20.00 percent. In the egg group, the increase in average household consumption per capita a week for local chicken eggs was higher than layer chicken eggs, respectively by 5.71 percent for local chicken eggs and 2.31 per- cent for layer chicken eggs. However, duck eggs decreased by 15.63 percent.
The largest participation in animal food consumption of the Indo- nesian population in March 2022 was eggs at 93.15 percent, followed by fish at 92.26 percent and poultry meat at 64.95 per- cent. Meanwhile, participation in milk consumption 45.12 per- cent and beef consumption was only 7.97 percent.
Table 7.3 shows that the average household calorie consumption per capita per day in March 2022 compared to March 2021, for the egg and milk group decreased by 1.59 kcal (2.63 percent).
Meanwhile, the meat group increased by 8.35 kcal (11.88 per- cent). The proportion of average daily per capita consumption of calorie for the meat group was greater than the egg and dairy groups to the total food group in March 2022, at 3.78 percent and 2.83 percent, respectively.
The average daily per capita consumption of protein for the meat group in March 2022 increased by 9.36 percent compared to March 2022. Meanwhile, the egg and milk group decreased by 3.44 percent. The proportion of average daily per capita con- sumption of protein for the meat group was greater than that of the egg and dairy groups in the total food group in March 2022, at 7.70 percent and 5.42 percent, respectively.
In March 2022, the average expenditure of the Indonesian popu- lation in the dairy and egg group is slightly more than that of the meat group. On average, each Indonesian spends 35,491 rupiah for eggs and milk, while 35,284 rupiah for meat. The average expenditure of both has increased compared to March 2021 by 0.71 percent for milk and eggs and 19.45 percent for meat.
TECHNICAL EXPLANATION
1. Data of consumption have been derived from the National Social Economic Survey (Survei Sosial Ekonomi Nasional/
SUSENAS) of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), March.
2. Samples are households with national scope.
3. Consumption Participation is the percentage of the population who consume types of food commodities (fresh and processed) to the total national population (susenas products).
4. Expenditure of food consumption is calculated during the last week, while the consumption of non-food is calculated during the last month or the last year.
5. Data konsumsi/pengeluaran rata-rata per kapita yang disajikan dalam publikasi ini diperoleh dari hasil bagi jumlah konsumsi seluruh rumah tangga (baik konsumsi makanan maupun bukan makanan tanpa memperhatikan asal barang baik berasal dari pembelian, produksi sendiri maupun pemberian) terhadap jumlah penduduk.
