This is the first election of a woman as an officer at a National Convention in the history of the American Turners.). A complete report on this situation will be laid before the appropriate Committee of the Convention.

REPORT OF CHAIRMAN OF NATIONAL CULTURAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE
I have sent letters to all society Presi- dents whose society did not have a Cultural Chairman, suggesting they appoint one. A letter was sent to all Cultural Chairmen whose society did not partici- pate, outlining the program. Bulletins have been sent to all societies outlining different Cultural projects with instructions on how to do each subject.
At various times I have received letters from members of different societies requesting information on Cultural Education.
REPORT OF CHAIRMAN NATIONAL BOWLING COMMITTEE
Many of you attended the National Festival at Milwaukee and I hope all of you who went, saw the Cultural Exhibit. I would like to see Cultural Education grow because I honestly believe it is a worthwhile and wonderful program, also a credit to American Turners. Some of you probably feel I have interfered too much by sending out literature to your societies but when I am given a task to do I try to do the very best I can.
Convention Chairman Doyle announced that since there was no provision for a Nominating Committee, he would appoint a committee and requested each District delegation to get together and submit the name of one of their delegates to serve on the Nominating Committee.
SECOND SESSION
After completion of Committee sessions all committee reports are to be taken to the Turner Hall to be transcribed and reproduced. Television Program on Channel 11 at 6 P.M., August 27, featuring President Kierschner and "Fess" Weis- mueller and will include a demonstration by pupils of Louisville Turners. Southern California District William Huth- Western New York District Stephen Reskovitz - Middle Atlantic District Ferdinand Uebel- Minnesota District Axel Nordstrom- New England District Joseph Becker- Upper Mississippi District Alvin Steinke - Lake Erie District.
Tuesday Morning, August 28, 1956
At this time motion was made, seconded, and carried, that the reading of the minutes of the first session of the Convention be omitted. Chairman Doyle then asked for approval of the following rules to govern debate at the ensuing portion of the Convention. He reported on the Midwest District which was dormant, due to the withdrawal of the Kansas City Turners, who had joined the St.
Fleishman moved the funds of the Midwest District which were forwarded to the National Body be placed in the General Funds of the American Turners.
REPORT OF NATIONAL PUBLICATION AND PUBLICITY COMMITTEE
Chairman Doyle did not discharge the Committee and granted permtsston to present a further report under new business; however, he ruled that the defeat of recommendation 1 would prevent publication of the specific publica- tion referred to in this recommendation. The Vice Chairman then called for the report of the Finance Committee of the Convention which was read by Turner William Modrow, Chairman of the Committee.
REPORT OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
And concurs in the action of the National Council in taking over the assets and liabilities of Rochester Turners, Inc., of Rochester, New York and recommends that they proceed as they see fit in the best interests of the American Turners. The Committee expresses its gratitude to Turner Carl Anderson, First Vice-President, and Turner George Kuettner, Councilor of Region VII, for being present and ably assisting in the deliberations of the Committee. The Committee further extends its thanks to the Louisville Turners in making it possible for the Committee's agreeable accommodations at the Brown Hotel for this meeting.
Information was reque ted as to the uses to which this fund had been put and Turner Uhl stated that reports had been published, and also appear on pages 15 and 16 of the 1 04th Annual Report.
REPORT OF THE CULTURAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Recommend that each District Cultural Chairman shall submit quarterly reports to the National Chairman of the Cultural Educational Committee ad- vising this chairman of the progress of this program of each Society in their District. This will advise the National Chairman of the Activities and enable the National Chairman to offer help and encouragement. Recommend that a fee of $1.00 shall be charged each individual and a fee of $5.00 shall be charged each Society to participate in National Festivals in the Cultural Educational part of the Festival.
Recommend that on Article 2 1 - Group Q -Poetry, paragraph 3, the following words which read "and must relate to some phase of the Turner Movement" be deleted.
THIRD SESSION

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT OF THE CULTURAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE
REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PRINCIPLES, STATUTES AND GRIEVANCES
In the event a Society expresses a desire to withdraw from the American Turners, such withdrawal shall require the sanction by 60o/o of the membership of that society who are listed as members of the American Turners. For this purpose, a ballot shall be mailed to each member of that Society by the National Secretary of the American Turners, and only such ballots as are re- turned to the National Office and signed by the member shall be counted.". Motion made by Turner Troester that this resolution be adopted and the National Office instructed to take a referendum vote on the recommendation of revision of principles and statutes in accordance with para- graph 174 of the Principles and Statutes of the American Turners.
At this time Chairman Doyle called for the report of the Committee on National Affairs, which was presented by Turner John Stocker, Secretary of the Committee.
REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON NATIONAL AFFAIRS
Recommend that the recommendation of the National Council that the American Turners and/or the American Turner Endowment Trust accept the offer of the Rochester Turners, Inc., to transfer all of its property, real, personal and mixed, including all of its accounting records, membership lists, accounts receivable and cash to the American Turners and/or the American Turner Endowment Trust in consideration of the American Turners assuming. An interested youth attend some society's school of Physical Education during its regular operating program, for some period (a week or two) under the tutelage of the local instructor. 34;It is recommended that the recommendation of the National Council that the American Turners and/or the American Turners Endowment Trust accept the offer of the Rochester Turners, Inc., of Rochester, New York, to transfer all of its property, real, personal, and mixed, including all of its accounting records, membership lists, accounts receivable and cash to the American Turners and/or the American Turners Endowment Trust in consideration of the Ameri- can Turners assuming the liabilities of the Rochester Turners, Inc., of Rochester, New York.".
This also took care of Recommendation 10 of the Report of the Committee on National Affairs which had been de- ferred.
FOURTH SESSION
We further request the legislators of the States and Territories comprising our Nation, as well as those of our Federal Government, to immediately under- take such supporting legislation as will effect this end with all domestic and foreign cars built in the future, as well as with all cars now in use, and. Furthermore, a copy of this Resolution shall be immediately sent to each State and Federal legislator with the request that they take immediate and favorable action thereon.
Wednesday Morning, August 29, 1956
REPORT OF THE BOWLING COMMITTEE
Recommend to the Nominating Committee the name of Turner Frank Falkel of Syracuse, New York, as National Bowling Chairman candidate. Barrow to have the National Bowling Bids and Surveys prepared in duplicate; one for the Na- tional Bowling Chairman and one for the National Office. It was the consensus of opinion of the National Bowling Committee that, rather than have one (same) representative be on hand every week-end, the seven members of the committee would each be on hand for one week-end to serve as National representative in charge, week-end to coincide with the week they would participate in the Tournament.
At this time Chairman Doyle called for the report of the Committee on Health and Physical Education.
REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Recommend that the Study Plan for the Turner Youth be referred to all societies and their instructors for trial and further study before it is adopted on a National basis. Chairman Doyle then called for the report of the Nominating Committee and appointed Turners Forrest Steinlage, Al Rouse, John Stocker, and Joseph Becker to serve as tellers for the election of officers.
REPORT OF THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Chairman ordered the Report received by the Convention and stated that, in accordance with the provision of the Statutes, additional nominations for all offices would be permitted from the floor. Asked for further nominations: there being none, a motion was duly made and seconded that nominations for the office of President be closed, which motion was carried by voice vote of the Convention. This request was granted and the Chairman ordered that a ballot be taken for the election of one· of the remaining nominees.
Turner Jacquin thanked the delegates and stated he would do his utmost for the welfare and progress of the American Turners.
Wednesday Afternoon, August 29, 1956
Chairman declared James Szilagyi duly elected Regional Councilor for Region IV of the American Turners. There being no further nominations a ballot was ordered taken for the election of one of the two candidatt:s presented by the Nominating Committee. Motion was made, seconded, and carried to accept the recommendation of the National Council as stated by President Turner Kierschner.
National Secretary Turner Eklund stated that Turner Herman Eisele had resigned as Chairman of the National Cultural Rules Committee.
SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT OF THE PUBLICITY COMMITTEE
Chairman Doyle then announced that Kansas City was selected to be host at the next National Convention in 195 8, which is also the Centennial for Kansas City Turners. Anderson of Moline also spoke about the National Bowling Tournament stating that very favorable facilities are being arranged; also that Turner Societies traveling the greatest distances will be given choice of dates at the Tournament.
MINORITY REPORT OF THE PUBLICITY COMMITTEE
Chairman announced that some of the Convention Committees had not been discharged as yet; a motion was made and seconded that all Committtees be discharged with thanks. Turner Jack Kovats of the Lake Erie District asked that Districts be more specific in preparing resolutions and recommendations to be presented at the - National Convention. Turner Bob Stahl of the New York District suggested that the Secretary of this Convention be requested to forward a letter, in the name of the Ameri- can Turners, to the United States Olympic Committee, with best wishes for the success of the United States Olympic Team at the 195 6 Olympic Games.
Be it resolved that the delegates and officers of the 46th National Conven- tion of the American Turners, in session at Louisville, Kentucky, express their best wishes for the success of the United States Gymnastic Team and all other United States Teams at the 195 6 Olympic Games.).
