The purpose of the study is to analyze students' difficulty in reading comprehension of Islamic history among seventh graders in SMP Kartikatama Metro. The type of study is qualitative. The participants of this study were the researcher, the English teacher and 10 students from seventh grades of SMP Kartikatama Metro. For the documentation, the writer gave a reading test for the students and the result would be documentation.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kesulitan siswa dalam membaca pemahaman cerita Islam pada siswa kelas VII di SMP Kartikatama Metro. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah para peneliti, guru Bahasa Inggris dan 10 siswa kelas VII SMP Kartikatama Metro. Peneliti akan mengumpulkan data dari subjek penelitian ini yaitu membaca teks siswa dan wawancara tatap muka dengan pertanyaan ganda tentang kesulitan membaca pemahaman.

More specifically, this research was aimed at obtaining an empirical description. concerned about students' difficulty in reading comprehension of the Islamic story. In relation to the above rationale, the researcher conducts a research proposal entitled: “Analysis of Difficulties in Reading Comprehension of Islamic Story among Seventh Graders of SMP Kartikatama Metro”. Due to the above identification, the researcher replicates the problem of reading comprehension difficulties of seventh graders of SMP Kartikatama Metro.

Readers make use of their existing background knowledge to make predictions about what comes next in the text and about how some new, unknown information relates to what is already known.8 Furthermore, reading comprehension is a process that had a goals to know about. the messages in a particular text. Reading comprehension is a process in which readers create meaning by interacting with text through the combination of prior knowledge and experience, information in the text and readers' views related to the text.9 There is a need for strategies in reading comprehension. This means that reading comprehension is the activity of knowing or understanding the content of written text.

The bottom-up model states that a reader reads the words, sentences and looks at the structure of the text to construct its meaning.

Storytellers can define their works as part of the artistic and personal expression of the form. The story of another prophet and the companions as support or strengthening of the character of the child. The example of the prophet is noble because his name is crowned by God in the Qur'an.
It shows that his perfection of humanity is not shared by the rest of the former so far. Epics are tall tales that tell of the adventures of heroes/heroines as they travel from one end of the land to the other. Stories are potentially one of the most powerful tools that can be used in teaching science.
There are many benefits that science teachers can gain from using stories as one of the alternatives in teaching. Storytelling is one of the most basic means of making sense, as such it is an activity that permeates all aspects of learning. 24. The pattern of repetition predictability or variation is often reflected in the repetition patterns of language.
The moral sense as a continuation of the introduction of values offered through the characters of Islamic historical tales. At this stage, the student is asked to feel the concept of the value of character education. For example the concept of Prophet Muhammad's honesty when trading in the market.
They jointly sell the concept of fair and appropriate rules for the religion of Islam.

The researcher will take the data from the object of this research, namely the reading text of the students and the direct interview by giving them some questions about the difficulties in reading comprehension using the Islamic story among the students of SMP Kartikatama Metro in the academic year 2018/ 2019. In this step, the researcher reads all the necessary data and gets the general meaning of the information and writes the general. In carrying out this research, an approach is needed which is briefly integrated with the way the researcher examines the phenomena. The last step is the interpretation of the finding result.
The researcher conducted the reading comprehension test to know the problems in reading comprehension of Islamic story among the seventh graders of the SMP Kartikatama Metro. In the analysis phase, researcher interviewed 10 seventh graders from the SMP Kartikatama Metro. In addition, the author found from the result of the research data analysis in previous elaborations that the students' reading comprehension was still low and needed to be improved.
From the results of the interview, it was found that there were six problems that the students faced in understanding the text. Based on the results of the data analysis and discussion in Ariyanti's research, the researcher draws the following conclusions. From the results of the interview, it was found that there were five problems faced by the students.
They can be seen not only from the features of the text, but also from the students' abilities. The third research related to this study was conducted by Mashulah 'An Analysis of Students' Difficulties in Comprehending English Reading Text' the results of the research can be determined as follows. Based on the result of the test, the researcher concludes that the students have some difficulties in identifying the main idea of the text, identifying specific words in the text and the last many students have difficulty understanding the structure of the text.
In the description of the data analysis on the previous chapter, it can be concluded that the students' reading comprehension in seventh grades in SMP Kartikatama Metro is still low and needs to be increased.
RESULT OF RESEARCH
Description of Research Setting
The author gave the students five questions based on the text/Islamic story that has. This can be seen from the result of test and interview of reading comprehension done by the students. Based on the result of reading comprehension test, it is found that the students still have difficulty finding main idea, scanning specific information, making inferences, identifying references and understanding vocabulary.
There were: students are not interested in reading English text because they cannot understand it. To solve this students' difficulties that they have, the writer concluded that students learned more the methods and strategies of how to understand a text more easily. So the students did not need an open dictionary to find the difficult word in the sentences.
Based on a survey of students in the second grade of GŠM N 2 Metro, the results showed that the students have limitations in five aspects of reading; determining the main idea, finding specific information, making inferences, identifying references and understanding the meaning of a word when understanding an English reading text. While the problems of the students arising from the ability of the students were; students did not use appropriate reading techniques when reading. Factors that cause problems From the results of the questionnaire and interview data analysis, the researcher finds three factors that cause problems for students in English reading comprehension of descriptive text.
Students still have difficulty in reading comprehension because students do not have much vocabulary, which makes it difficult for them to understand the meaning of words, especially Islamic vocabulary. Students are also unable to find the main idea, scan specific information, make inferences, and identify coherence. Students are not interested in reading the English text because they do not understand it.
The students rarely read Islamic stories, which led the students to find familiar words that are common when reading English texts.
