INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Student Score of English Auxiliary Verb in Eighth Grade SMP MA’ARIF 1 METRO. The minimum mastery criterion (MMC) of the auxiliary verb in the eighth grade of SMP MA’ARIF1 METRO was 74.

Problem Identification

The use of song can benefit teachers and students at all stages of teaching and learning auxiliary verb mastery. Based on the situation above, the author will conduct a study entitled "The use of song as a medium to improve students' auxiliary verb mastery among the eight grade levels of SMP MA'ARIF1 METRO."

The author chose class VIII A, because most of the students have low ability, especially in auxiliary verb mastery. This means knowing the activity and the process of the students in the classroom. It can be concluded that using song as a medium can improve the students' learning of auxiliary verb mastery.

Therefore, songs should be carefully selected according to the need of the teacher to stimulate or calm students, time of day or day of the week.

Furthermore, the author also collected the data from the post-test and the result of student's activity. In the fourth phase, the author and the collaborator discuss the data collected from all activities.

At this stage, the author used the data from the evaluation to make improvements if. The writer will do the next cycle and use the data collected in the first cycle as a reference by correcting any problems or weaknesses in the previous cycle.

Data Collection Technique

This was done to determine the readiness for teaching program and to analyze the quality of the problem in ability of auxiliary verb. This was done to find out the students' result in learning auxiliary verbs using Song medium. These are methods used to get information from written sources or documents such as books, magazines, regulations and notes of meeting and daily report.

The writer used this method to obtain data about the history of the school, the number of teachers, employed officials and students at SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO.

Data Analysis Technique

To find the average score of the pre-test and the post-test in cycle 1 and cycle II. After that, to know the result, the author compared the average scores between pre-test and post-test for each cycle.

Brief history about the establishment of SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO is one of the Junior high schools in the northern metro, it was built in 1982. Since the establishment of SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO, this school is guided by the following principles: SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO has many buildings like classroom, library, canteen and many more.

The conditions for the students at SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO who registered for the academic year 2016/2017.

Description of Result Finding

Based on the results of the pre-test table above, it can be concluded that out of 23 students, the author found only 1 student who passed the minimum mastery criteria, namely 74. In the pre-test, the author concluded that the student still few in assistance have verb mastery. Based on the results of data before test students above, the author found that difficulties in mastering auxiliary verbs are still lacking.

In addition, the author created an observation sheet consisting of a list of students' names and a list of student activities that he would observe while teaching the learning process. At the beginning of the learning process of teaching, the writer started with a prayer and a greeting and a review of the attendance list. Then, the writer completes the task by completing the adapted poem lyrics task provided by the researcher.

Based on the results of the above pre-test table, it can be concluded that the writer of 23 students found improvement from pre-test to post-test, with the minimum mastery criteria 74. Here the writer is as a teacher and the English teacher is as a employee who observes the activities of the students during the teaching-learning process. Then the writer performs the task by completing the task of a personalized lyric song provided by the writer.

Based on the results of the posttest table above, it can be concluded that out of 23 students, the writer has found an increase with the minimum mastery criteria of 74. Therefore, it has shown improvement so that the use of songs as a means of improving the auxiliary students. mastery of the verb in the eighth grade of SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO.

Discussion

Interpretation The Result of Students Learning

From the result observation in the learning process in cycle II, it can be concluded that the learning of the auxiliary verb mastery, processed through the use of song as a medium, was successful. Not only the auxiliary verb mastery score, but also the activity of the students in class, on cycle 1 encounter 1 (67%), encounter 2 (80%). The result of the student's mastery of auxiliary verbs in pre-test, post-test I and post-test II in cycles I and II.

Interpretation The Result of Students Activities

The song as a medium is the alternative technique can improve the mastery of the auxiliary verb in the eighth grade of SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO. Based on the data, the writer concluded that the use of song as a tool to improve students' mastery of auxiliary verbs was improved. Students should be more active in the process of learning English, if they do not understand the material given by their teacher, especially in mastering auxiliary verbs, they should ask the teacher.

The English teacher can use song as a medium as a technique in teaching English, especially in auxiliary verb mastery, so that the students can participate fully, motivate and understand the material that the teacher provides to a greater extent. And then make students enjoy and have fun in the process of learning English, especially auxiliary verb mastery. Principal to facilitate the learning process of English, especially in auxiliary verb mastery, because this technique can make students active and enjoy in class.

Guru meminta siswa menjawab bagian kosong lirik lagu dengan cara mendengarkan media lagu berupa suara, kemudian penggalan kata pada lirik lagu yang termasuk kata kerja bantu . Lengkapi lirik lagu di bawah ini dengan kata kerja bantu (Can, Could, Will) & (Is, Am, Are)!!.
